I just picked up my GT350 in March and have been looking at HPDE events to do around me this summer. Knowing I will probably like doing this a lot I figured going forward it would be best to have a dedicated wheel / tire set up for the track VS trying to dual purpose my OEM wheels and tires currently on it ( Yokohama Advan Sport V105's )

Question being what is a good dedicated set of wheels to use to go to and from the track and for the event and should I stick with the factory 19" size or save some money for wheels / tires and go with an 18" set or would that mess up what the computer thinks it has for a wheel size on it? Not looking to break the bank on a set of wheels but any suggestions are welcome

For track use I bought a set of OEM wheels and SC2 tires that someone was selling on eBay. Now I just replace the SC2 tires as needed on those wheels and use my original wheels with the PSS tires to drive around town. I didn't want to mess around with aftermarket wheels and did not care about saving any weight.

I’m not opposed to OEM wheels so that’s an option as well

18s will not clear the brakes on a gt350.

Noted. Didn't think of that. I run 18's on my Cobra but the rotors are not as big as on the GT350

Apex wheels is pretty much the golden standard across hpde folks as long as you're ok with the price.

I went with Steeda Trident wheels as they were much better priced, been using them all last season and had no issues so far. LMR is another good source.

It's a solid choice. Also a lot lot lighter than my pp1 stock wheels. They look better in person vs the photos, paint has been holding well, the fact that I can use stock lug nuts is a big benefit when I swap between wheels.

We can help you with a set :)
When I'm ready to pull the trigger on getting a set I'll be in touch. I'm still in the early research phase and want to get at least one event under my belt but I know I'll like it and want to keep going to more.

Oh stock lugs is a big plus too

Here's a few threads that might be helpful. @Ewheels has a ton of knowledge from first hand experience with track events and can help with tire selection. I secretly stalk his threads and live vicariously through his track and HPDE events. :giggle:

Thanks for the kind words!!

@Vudu52 Steeda, LMR, Apex all make great track wheels (Apex being the best but also the most expensive). Common setups include: 19x10 w/ 285 tires or 19x11 with 305 tires.

A square setup (19x11 square) is most common and helps prolong tire life and can keep costs down but that will also require longer studs in the front and spacers. Some people like a staggered setup and perform well with it but that depends on your tastes (more grip on corner exit but also prone to understeer mid-corner)

Let me know if you have any questions. Happy to help!

Thanks for the reply, I read a lot in a thread you posted in regarding tires for track events.
Even with the GT350 with a squared setup with 19x10 wheels would I need longer studs and spacers? Has 19x10.5 already so I was thinking I wouldn’t need to touch those.

19x10 square will not require studs and spacers, assuming you get the correct offsets.
19x11 will require studs and spacers in the front only
