Hello,

This black box with a white plunger is under the clutch pedal and is not affixed to anything, it's just dangling there.
What is it?

Thanks.

My clutch pedal has a plunger at the top of it - I noticed it when I fitted the clutch spring.

Can you see another up there ?

I see an electrical connector at the top of the pedal, which indicates there's switch there, but I can't see the switch itself, I don't know if it looks like a plunger or not.
Here's a better picture:

And a close-up showing what's inscribed on it:

The part number is HR3T-11A152-AA. A Google search for this part number reveals nothing relevant.

Curious; does everything work on the car? Can it be driven normally?

Oh, yes, no problem so far. Everything seems to work fine.
But I'm just curious as to what that might be. It looks strange just dangling there, not attached to anything, and having a plunger that's obviously never going to be pushed.
I suspected it might be the switch from the clutch pedal, but it can't be, because in that case the engine would not start, would it?

It’s the clutch starter internal switch. It prevents the car from being started with the clutch engaged. Guessing it doesn’t belong on the floor. :headbang:

What is a clutch start switch?
The clutch start switch is a member of the starting system. It's a safety device that prevents a driver from starting the engine with the clutch engaged. It's usually mounted on the clutch pedal assembly but may slide on the clutch master pushrod. ... Use a multimeter to diagnose the clutch switch and circuit.

But the engine does start when I press the clutch pedal to the floor. And it doesn't start if I don't (it just turns on the accessory power, as expected). Everything seems to work as it should.
I also thought it might be the clutch switch, but the fact that the car worked normally made me doubt that.
Maybe there's a second, backup switch somewhere? And the engine starts if at least one of them is actuated?

Strange but considering it’s a Mustang not unexpected. Anyway it doesn’t belong on the floor. If you cannot figure out where it goes it’s back to the dealer. :frown:

Yes, rev match works perfectly (I adore that, by the way, best invention since sliced bread :inlove: ).

Haven't tried that. Good point. I'll give it a try as soon as get the chance.

That's the CPP switch. It disengages cruise control when you press the clutch in.

Here is where it is mounted:

Note the orientation is rotated 90 deg from the 2016 service manual, but this shows where it goes.
