I still think the camaro is priced too high with visibility flaws that detract a lot of buyers, I like the new camaro minus the rear end but that price is just to high, can't justify it. If ford keeps a solid price point and a spacious cabin I think the mustang will continue to dominate the sales lead.
I think the visibility will be the biggest detractor but if you do sit in one the interior is nice...we'll know in the next 6 months how it looks!

This. Ford basically just handed the sales lead to Chevy if this is all that's new. Not even a new special edition? I feel like this document is leaving stuff out though. For example, we know Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are debuting on the 2017 models yet that's not highlighted here...
Bwahaha Handed them the sales lead? The Mustang has been outselling Camaro by thousands of cars per month since the S550 started selling over a year ago.

The new one is barely on lots, very few V8s and the turbo 4 isn't even being built yet. And the SS starts at $4k more than the GT. And pretty much looks like the old ones overall. I dont see anyone rushing to lots to buy new Camaros.

Cropped from the mustang6g homepage to show since the S550. Red is mustang sales towering over Camaro in yellow. The closest the Camaro has come is 1,000 cars less one month and as much a 4-9,000 cars less in quite a few months

Somehow I don't think it matters who outsells who. In the end they will both sell enough that neither are going anywhere.

Anyways, as long as Mustang keeps outselling the Camaro, that is just less incentive for Ford to make the Mustang that much better.

As someone who was just shopping both Camaro and Mustang this was one of the biggest problems for me. The Camaro is much approved in my opinion but the visibility was not good at all plus I would have had to spend another 4K for what I wanted versus the Mustang as well as having to spring for 20 inch tires (twice the cost of the 19's I have)which are the only wheels available for the SS models which I hate not having a choice on.

In the end it was cost and visibility problems the most which turned me off. The Camaro had it in a lot of other areas including the LT1 from the Stingray (although the Coyote is no slouch) but in the end the mustang was the all around better car. I honestly believe as well that cost will be a big factor for many. I am more than happy with my new mustang but I hope these companies keep trying to one up each other because in the end the consumer is the winner!

How the hell does this turn into a Camaro vs Mustang thread?

It didn't but the Camaro is the biggest competitor that would have an influence on a mid cycle refresh.

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that we are expecting some sort of response from Ford to the Camaro's myriad of pretty cool options like magna ride and NPP. Since the two cars go pretty hand in hand. I personally prefer the Mustang for looks and obviously visibility, but on the other hand this is the first time in a long time that I would actually consider purchasing chevy's alternative given what they're offering. I'm on the fence.

Sales mean everything to a business; it drives refresh cycles to stay competitive.

Problem is by the time the Camaro starts selling some actual serious units mid-late 2016 the 18 Mustang will be around the corner. GM is FAR behind the 8 ball right now on sales and can't even get the new Camaro n the lots and it's mid-February now

I'm betting that pearl white paint will look pretty sharp if you like white.

Pretty minimal changes for 2017 ... maybe a few major ones in 2018?

I'm calling it now.....

10 speed auto
2.7 EB replaces 3.7 and becomes mid tier
New PP options (possible track pack to compete with ss/1le)
New front and rear
LED headlights (at least an option)
Possible full LCD gauge cluster

Mach 1 with NA 5.2 cross plane crank and drag car specific options (drag pack with solid rear axle)

That's what I think will be included in the 2018 refresh. 2017 is a stop gap tell they verify and complete the 2018 refresh.

I'm with you on everything but the SRA...too much work for a production option
It might be but keep in mind the Mach 1 would be like the boss 302 for the S550 generation. Not entirely out of the realm of possibility for a specially designed 4 link SRA to be packaged in such a way to be a direct bolt in replacement for the IRS. It would certainly not be a cheap option but could be one.
