What would you do

I'm at a crossroads boys, I really want the 2015 GT PP, I have it pre ordered, but it won't be till Job 2, and I need a car before then... I don't know what to do, I was looking at the 2015 fusion hybrid titaniums, fully loaded just like the mustang would of been, I can get one of those for 10k less than the mustang, save a ton on gas, and then in 2 years get the gt500 or the gt350 when I have more money to have both cars and use the fusion as my daily driver, I'm sticking with ford no matter what, but just don't know what I should do. A lot of you guys on here are very knowledgeable and great help. Any input?

If gas mileage is important due to a long commute then it is a no brainer: get the fusion and buy the mustang later when funds allow.

If you really want the mustang now then simply rent a car for a few months. The sales tax on a new Fusion is easily $1,500 so that is lost money that can go towards a rental car.

Buy a cheap car that will be worth the same money when you sell it in 6 months. You'll be kicking yourself when you see the Mustangs rolling around. Wait it out. The Fusion's are nice but they ain't no S550! I can assure you of that.

I know, I told myself the second I see the 2015 I will hate myself... but at the same time... the second I see the gt500 knowing I could have that and a really nice daily driver I might just be as mad. and Chlocli, gas mileage is a lot, right now I currently spend $200 every other week in gas driving to work (2010 avg's 17mpg)... this would cut it down to $50... and we are moving offices farther away so the gas would start getting closer to breaking the bank if I kept the 2010... The fusion is more practical ... #butmustang

I agree with this. My gf needed a car but was in a tough financial spot. I bought her an old Honda Accord with 230K Klm for $1,700. The motor runs beautifully and she's done nothing more than maintenance. 6 months later and she's still driving it and decided that it runs so well she'll drive it 'til it dies and save up for a nice down payment.

I could sell that car today for the same as I bought it (+/- $200)

If you like the GT get the GT! A new Fusion only because you need a car right now? Go to your dealer, tell him you like a good price on the GT (close to the INVOICE price or below if you can get there) and tell him also that you need a winter beater right now. They have always a customer car sitting around what they got and can't really sell it because it is to old. $1,000 - $2,000 for a spare car is always a good thing to have.

I have an 2000 Mercedes C230 supercharger as my winter beater. Paid $2,300 for it 12 month ago. That's cheaper than winter tires. Winter tires were included from the former owner. Get your GT now! and an old Fiesta/Focus to get to work....

Yeah, you guys have had some great input, but honest question, would you guys rather have the first gt PP on the new s550, or wait a year, see if they get any significant HP/MPG bumps in the 2016/2017 year + see how nice the gt500 is, and still have a really nice DD, it's not about the winter as I live in FL. It's just about comfort, reliability and creature comforts.

If you wait for something better you will always wait because there will always be something better coming.
But that just means that you'll always be waiting while other people are driving.

Since you have long drive you should be sure to get something you enjoy. Going used is a great plan because you won't take a huge hit in depreciation, and it allows you to possibly get something more interesting than you could new.

Are there any other vehicles you might want to try out while waiting for the Mustang? Maybe finding one would help you decide which way to go.

That's what I've been thinking about, driving high miles I don't want to do that on the GT PP or gt350/500 whichever I get, and I know I'll want a 350/500. I haven't really researched anything but the fusion, I like the heated and cooled seats and navigation.. and the 40+ MPG, trying to see what else is out there and get some other opinions from other mustang fanatics like myself

I hear you throwing in the GT500 card in a year or two as a potential reason for waiting, then in the next sentence you are concerned over the fuel economy of your car, which is cool. The only thing is if fuel is a concern now it's likely to be of similar concern in two years when looking at a world beater GT350 SVT or whatever they name it. If you can afford the GT now, just hang tight and figure out the short gap with some cheaper option. Used cars are so plentiful this option shouldn't be overlooked.

If you drive your GT calmly as a daily driver then your fuel won't be through the roof, it would only be when you are having fun with it that the GT really drink it down.

I agree with this. If I were you and I started seeing the new Mustangs rolling around I would regret my decision of not waiting it out.
