For what it's worth, I basically did your #2 choice. The main difference is, my old car has been paid off for four years, and wouldn't be worth anything worthwhile on trade-in. Also, it's rather nice having a beater car to drive in the crappy snow and ice we've had here lately, and it will also be nice in the warmer months when I'm driving down sketchy dirt roads in the mountains to go hiking (once my old Scion dies, it will likely get replaced with something awd with ground clearance for that reason alone.)

Also, its nice having two cars. I've had a few too many situations in the past couple of years where I couldn't get to work due to my car being down for repairs. Luckily I have a job which allows me to work remotely, but not everyone has that luxury.

The guy can't figure out how to start off in a stick shift car after "hours" and you think putting him on a MOTORCYCLE will help?!

This Jimmy guy can't be real.
I dunno - I learned to ride motorcycle at 10 or so. It didn't seem like a big deal to me. At 13 I got my permit and I remember having some trouble with the stick shift at first. YMMV. :D

You should choose #A, and well played on your numbering convention. If you want it, buy the car now and enjoy it. We could all be dead tomorrow. I'll be honest, this car does not make much sense as a DD. Especially if you have kids or pets that you regularly transport. Anyone sitting in the back is going to be miserable, gas mileage isn't great, and the ride over rough pavement leaves a little to be desired. Haul bikes? Not without a lot of effort, and a rack on this car is out of the question, for me at least. But that's not what I bought this car for. Yes, it's my DD, and many things are a compromise, but this car transcends its impracticality by being able to deliver more smiles than any other car I've owned.

Well, apparently there was a 4th option that I hadn't yet considered. I drove a manual EB the other day and fell in love. I was able to get what I needed for my trade in and I brought this beauty home on Thursday.

The day after I bought it we got hit with some snow here in DFW. They don't really have plows here so the traffic was very slow moving. The Mustang did great in the snow and the manual gave me no issues at all in the hour and a half of stop and go traffic.

What was your original decision of the 3? In your first post you said that in actuality you knew what you were going to do...just curious

Originally I had made up my mind to go ahead and get the GT. Until the other day I hadn't driven a manual EB. To me it was a totally different car than the auto one I had driven. I had been reading a whole bunch about EB mods and actually started to get really excited about the idea. The fact that is was about $7K cheaper and had 19" wheels (which I really wanted) certainly didn't hurt.

Good for you getting a 15! The S550 is a beautifully designed car. All 3 engines are a great option.

Just wanted to chime in on the whole "hauling dogs" thing. Depends on the size of your dog. My 50+ lb Airedale rides shotgun occasionally and for in-town trips. When he was smaller, the back seat was an option, but too big now and the center hump makes it impossible to get comfy. He was a bit unnerved by the sporty ride and sat bolsters, but he's gotten used to it. I have considered removing the rear seat buckets and building a doggy shelf for the rear, since they're absolutely useless as passenger seats.

Congrats on the purchase. I love my EB manual as well.

Made my day! :coolphotos: I grew up with Airedales and we just lost our two boys to old age. My pups loved to "go for a ride!"

All I can think of when I see this pic is the scene in The Fast And The Furious, where their in the Supra and race the guy in the Ferrari.

As far as the dogs go, I have two small dogs that tend to leave a lot of hair in the car. So, I knew I'd be fine hauling them. Just would be nice to have them in a car I cared less about.
