Yeah, you guys have had some great input, but honest question, would you guys rather have the first gt PP on the new s550, or wait a year, see if they get any significant HP/MPG bumps in the 2016/2017 year + see how nice the gt500 is, and still have a really nice DD, it's not about the winter as I live in FL. It's just about comfort, reliability and creature comforts.
Performance is not on the list? Why even look at a mustang gt then? Get the fusion and save some bucks.

In Canada the current gt500 is significantly more than a Gt - so much so, that I suspect most people wouldn't be cross-shopping them. Maybe the price difference is not as drastic in the States.

Comes down to what your priorities are and what you can afford.

Performance is on the list, but I don't mind waiting a year or 2 to get the car I want, I love my mustang. and waiting until the gt350/500/roush come out I would be able to use the money I save on the fuision (would lower my payments and gas), and be able to have both... just trying to decide if it's worth the wait or not. That's why I figured I'd post up on here and get input from fellow fanatics like myself.

Fusion and a Mustang for 1st and second car sound like a bad idea to me, if I had a Mustang I would want something the Mustang can't do, consider something with a 5th door to carry the stuff the Mustang can't.

I hope that helps,

I'm at a crossroads boys, I really want the 2015 GT PP, I have it pre ordered, but it won't be till Job 2, and I need a car before then... I don't know what to do, I was looking at the 2015 fusion hybrid titaniums, fully loaded just like the mustang would of been, I can get one of those for 10k less than the mustang, save a ton on gas, and then in 2 years get the gt500 or the gt350 when I have more money to have both cars and use the fusion as my daily driver, I'm sticking with ford no matter what, but just don't know what I should do. A lot of you guys on here are very knowledgeable and great help. Any input?
Buy a winter "beater" for $1k, then sell it this summer for $800 bucks.. ?

Or, buy an Escape & in a few years compliment that with a Mustang. That way you have SUV & weekend car, etc..

If you have any doubts about practicality and/or gas mileage, get the Fusion. Nothing worse than being PO'd about having to fill up every other day. JMO

Not sure about everyone else, but something in this thread does not add up to me. You are talking about the cost of fuel being a big issue, but at the same time are thinking about putting out >80k toward a new Fusion Hybrid and GT500 in the next 2-3 years? To me, I think if the total costs were a major issue, I would say to go with a low cost either used or new Focus, with the low entry cost (~15k) you could pay for all of the fuel costs with the savings in purchase price alone vs. the Fusion. Or getting a Mustang GT without a second car, again you could pay for a lifetime of fuel for that car and not make up the price of the Fusion Hybrid.

Do not get me wrong, my wife has a Fusion Hybrid and it is a great car that gets almost 40MPG most of the time, but if the raw $$ for fuel is a big issue, then buying two expensive cars will not get rid of that problem... Maybe I am not looking at your situation through the right lens, but I do not see buying a Fusion Hybrid plus a Mustang as an overall savings vs. a Mustang alone... Best advice I have seen is to buy a low cost used car or entry level new one, and decide on the Mustang in a year or two.

Lots Of Mustangs
I know, I told myself the second I see the 2015 I will hate myself... but at the same time... the second I see the gt500 knowing I could have that and a really nice daily driver I might just be as mad. and Chlocli, gas mileage is a lot, right now I currently spend $200 every other week in gas driving to work (2010 avg's 17mpg)... this would cut it down to $50... and we are moving offices farther away so the gas would start getting closer to breaking the bank if I kept the 2010... The fusion is more practical ... #butmustang
I have a 2012 F150 FX4 EcoBoost, 2012 Mustang GT Brembo Vert and a 2007 Mustang GT RACE CAR. I needed something that got good mileage so I just picked a 2014 Focus SE up on a lease for $211/mo. It's getting 38mpg average right now. I'm saving $140/mo in fuel! The Focus is worth every penny.

If you're concern is needing a car now instead of waiting on your car to be built in Job 2 then I would say contact your dealers in the area and see what allocations they have coming in...which shouldn't be too much longer and see if they have anything remotely close to what you ordered. If they do, buy it :headbang:

It is right now as I just started a new job and the way my contract salary is set. as of now gas is an issue, with my contract structure being the way it is, this same time next year I will be making double before bonus' so the extra money towards the gt350/500 isn't an issue

Let's put it this way, as awesome as the GT is and as jealous as I am of those here lucky enough to have one on order, if you're in the position to save just a year or two longer and get a GT350 OP, I'd do that in a heartbeat. You did see those nurburgring videos right?

Here's an additional thought. Have you considered the regular Fusion Ti? How long will you own the Fusion? Do a quick calculation on how long the extra cost of the hybrid will take to pay off and start "saving" money on gas. And if you know anything about hybrids, the more you whip them the worse the mileage gets in a greater percentage than in a gas only car. In other words, its easier NOT to get close to the advertised MPG in a hybrid.
For that matter, try a Focus Ti,(MSRP $26K loaded, 37mpg hwy) even lower cost of ownership and maybe its features all loaded up will suit your needs.
