I use 87. I'm with Trooper; I'll take a 1% power hit and 430.6 HP seems plenty for my needs.

91 octane, because 93 is not available in California.

in the UK 95 is the lowest you'll find in most petrol stations
Just FYI - I think the Brits use a different scale - RON rather than (RON+MON)/2, which is what the States use. I'm not sure about Canada. Someone correct me if I'm wrong?

Correct; the octane calculation in the U.K. results in numbers 4-6 points higher on the scale, so 95 octane in the U.K. would be 89-91 in the U.S.

In the 08 Bullit if u ran 93 octane the owners manual stated the car could sense it and you would gain 15 HP . It done this by advancing timing and a few other things. I have not seen anything on the new 5.0 doing this but not really looked. I am fine with the way it runs on 87 Oct tho.

same for the 2015, if you run 87 the ECM compensates and you lose 1% of your horse power. The ECO Boost how ever loosed much more power on 87.

93 for me.

I want all the HP I paid for and don't mind paying a little extra for the gas that won't have the computer pulling timing when I get on the pedal.

I've never understood buying a performance vehicle and then going with "non-performance" fuel. Again I want the full performance from my engine at all times even if I'm not using its full potential 99% of the time. If I wanted a fuel sipper and cost saver I would have bought a hybrid. If I go through 500 gallons a year at 30 cents a gallon more for 93 octane in my area that works out to $150 a year. Pretty cheap HP "mod" if you ask me. ;)

I tend to agree especially now that fuel has come down over $1 per gallon over the past few months. It is not to know that you can run 87 if the situation requires.

Gas is down to $1.89 for 87 in my area $2.21 for 93. That 32 cent difference at 2 bucks a gallon is actually a higher hit (percentage) at lower prices than it was when I was paying over 4 bucks a gallon for 93 months ago. 32 cents at 2 dollars is 16% more while 32 cents at 4 dollars is only 8% more. It worked for me at higher prices but now works against me (so to speak) at lower prices. I still don't mind, I didn't buy this car for gas savings. My whole point is why purchase a $40K car and then skimp out a couple hundred dollars a year on lower performance fuel? I'm all for saving money but if someone is so concerned about saving 200 to 400 dollars a year on fuel, why did they purchase a 30 to 45 K car in the first place?

Regardless, whatever a person wants to do, it is their choice after all. The 5.0 will run on 87 octane but mine won't. ;)

We tend to agree, but not this time. :)

For me, it is not at all about the money. The car is designed to use 87... unless you add a tune that is designed to use higher octane gas, you will never see, or feel, a difference.

For a daily driver, with some spirited driving, 87 is perfectly fine for this engine, and will never harm it.

But, like oil brands and weights, everybody will always have their opinions about this, and we will never all agree.

How boring would it be if we did? :)

Yep we will have to disagree. There is a difference in performance between 87 and 93 octane albeit small. For the full 435 HP information from ford states 93 octane gas. I want the full 435 available at all times even if I only use it 1% of my driving time. :) And yes you can feel a difference, I have run 87 in vehicles designed for 91 or 93 and there is a throttle difference. I've looked at some knock retard numbers in my GTO on different fuels and it would pull timing on lower octane fuel.

For 95% of people 87 will be fine. For us 5% out there, we want what we paid for. Kind of like buying a blu ray player then going out and buying nothing but DVDs instead of seeing blu ray discs in high def.

Whatever someone wants. Just don't be surprised if I nip you at the light if your running on 87 octane. ;) Its all good. :D

With the current fuel prices my only regret is not buying a W16 Quad Turbo ;) Seriously though, there is nothing wrong spoiling your baby. Just get 93 or 91 octane and use fuel injector cleaners once a month to keep it clean, I am pretty sure it will return back the favor.

The 2015 mustang, nor the 2008 bullitt, nor any other mustang, does not have an 'octane sensor'. What they have is a detonation/knock sensor, that will pull timing if a knock is present. If you are not knocking at full throttle with 87, you will get the same horsepower (or possibly a tiny bit more) as 93 at full throttle, or any other throttle position. If you are knocking and timing is pulled, you are probably going to lose quite a bit more than 1% power.

Seriously; where are these places with 30 cents a gallon difference in regular vs. premium? On Wednesday, I filled up with premium -- $3.499 a gallon; regular at the same station was $2.519. What the hell?

Dang Jimmy, you need to move.
We are 1.77 for 87 octane and 2.01 for 91 octane.
