Hello everyone. First post here.
I am buying a 2016 GT in the near future but am trying to see how much money im spending in the aftermarket realm before i know how much of a down payment im putting.
Longevity of the car is my #1 concern, my current (non mustang) car has 275k and counting. However I do like power, for both of these reasons combined I'm looking into installing a centri supercharger (most likely a Procharger). I'm thinking of just the HO kit and running 8 or so psi of boost. So around 500-600 to the wheels and 600 or more to the crank.
Now I've done alot of research and some say the stock block can handle that, some say only for 50-100k miles, etc. For peace of mind I think if i go the FI route I'd like to put forged internals in, which seems like a cheaper option to an Aluminator swap.
My question is what parts exactly have to be changed out? Obviously the pistons, rods, and oil pump gear. But then I know there's also bearings, head bolts/studs, rings, etc. I'm looking at MMR for parts (http://www.modularmotorsportsracing.com/cart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=4_30_31) and also would like to know a ballpark figure for installation labor for the forged parts, which I assume would be around $2000-2500. The supercharger I'm capable of installing myself.
Thanks very much in advance.
