I have had my 2020 mustang GT for 2 years and haven’t changed how I operate the car…. But….

lately it seems the accessory mode is staying on even after I power off car. This causes the car to turn over slowly when I turn it back on a little while later AND more annoying, it loses my gauge and sometime the seat settings (I have digital dash).

WTF am I don’t wrong? I take foot off brake and press button. I get out of car. Sometimes I lock it.

I haven’t modified anything either.

do I need to take it for this? Anyone else have this problem?

After shutting off the engine, the accessory mode should shut off when you open the door. The most obvious evidence of this is that the radio will shut off. If this is not happening then that is an issue that a dealership should be looking into, presumably, under warranty.

The display goes off. But sometimes I will see the countdown timer stating that it is going to turn off accessory mode. I am wondering if there is some sort of electrical problem. Seems very intermittent. I might try an upgrade the firmware of Sync 3... but I am curious if anyone else has had this problem. So far, the Google Machine comes up with nothing.

Have the battery tested , sounds like a low battery issue . Make sure that after the battery is tested charged or replaced to do a BMS reset . Low battery state of charge plays hell on the electronics . Please note state of charge is more then the battery at 12+volts , more about condition of the battery .

The car is only 2 yrs old. 8K miles.... How do you test a battery (other than with a multimeter)? In other words, how can I test it to make sure it is functioning properly?

All the electronics in these cars take the batteries down pretty quickly. My wife’s SUV battery needed to be replaced after about 3 years. Most auto parts stores can test them as can the dealership

2 years old and low miles = death . Hate to say it , still under warranty take it to the dealer .

I bought one of these for my toolbox. Perhaps it might shed some light on your issue.

I didn't think batteries were under warranty. Thanks for the tip!

If you don't want to jump right into dealing with Ford any auto parts store can check it for free. Those little $35ish testers are great to have at home too. Mine has shown me more than one weak/failing battery before they left me stranded. It's also shown good batteries so I know to look elsewhere for problems.

How does one do a BMS reset, I am planning on replacing my battery come spring. It might help the o/p to know also.
