Definitely agree. I have the stock Pzeros as well. Lot of hop/skipping off the line but no wheel spin or burnouts so i guess it is working - that is the LC since I dont get smoke and screeching. First going to upgrade the bushings and links, then see what happens. Tires will probably need to be upgraded soon

Ive done more then 100 drag passes all using LC.
Just set the rpm you want to Launch then put your car in first gear floor the gas pedal fast if you do it slow it wont hold. Then when your ready to launch dont dump the clutch pedal this will make the car bogg down just do a quick slip and the car will get going.

LC is fun but I have a feeling on street tires you would be slower than launching without it. It’s a recipe for tire spin and/or wheel hop.

I was curious whether the S550 had launch control, and a quick search took me to this thread.
So, let me see if I got this straight - do you have to set a desired RPM yourself? And all that it does it keep the revs there? How do you choose that value? Trial and error?
I though the whole point of launch control was to keep your tires as close to the limit of grip as possible, to give you the fastest possible start. That's how it's implemented in other cars - you floor it, and the system monitors wheel spin and adjusts RPM accordingly, in real time, giving you just enough power to keep the tires on the verge of spinning, nothing more, nothing less. Isn't that what launch control is all about?
What am I missing?

the RPM is simply where it'll hold the engine before you engage the wheels (drop the clutch or step off the brake). Yes, it will retard power to control wheel spin but it's not magic. And no, it won't try to hold 3000 RPM during the launch as such.

I see. So that's just a starting point, not a fixed value. That makes sense.
But then, why do some people say that LC results in a cloud of tire smoke, and that they can launch faster without it? If the LC retards the power to keep wheel spin under control, and then it keeps it there, shouldn't this ensure the best possible launch?

People saying that they can launch faster without lc are people using a dragtire and on a prep surface. Cause the lc limits your throttle body and limits the power at the tires.

If you are not on a prep surface and have normal tires you will need it and it will get you a faster time.
Here check this link out:

When you are a full drag racer the best launches and 60foots you will get with a tire prep surface and a 2step.
