Two days ago, I was pulling out of a parking lot and waiting for a break in traffic. Then I saw a yellow 15 coming towards me in the near lane being driven by a very nice looking blonde girl. I waved - she smiled and waved back. It made my day. :D

Sweet. I have not had any encounters with 15 owners yet. Two from afar, so I won't count them. It's the non-15 owners that I've seen more.

Hoping to have the same encounter you had.

Is it a gender thing then? But can you tell from afar the gender of the person driving?
I have not seen another female S550 driver yet - that I could tell, anyway. Regardless - it is so rare any fellow S550 drivers show their faces at all. Only once, were these two young out-of-state guys super-excited to spot one of their own, when there were still so few of these on the road yet...I spoke of them somewhere on this forum. That was the only time I felt any kinship. Even more so than meeting some of the S550 guys at the local meets. I have had ONE earlier-year stang driver, male, initiate a low wave Hello while his arm was resting in the window. One. On the same road, different day, in an even older GT, the driver saw I was not going to race this obnoxious little fruit revving around between us. He gave me a look like 'Well, if you're not gonna do it, I will' and proceeded to leave this other little thing in his dust when they left the light. Pretty entertaining. I gave the GT a little honk when I caught up and he waved. That was about the extent of it. Nothing since.

As far as non-stang drivers, people of both genders are equally very complimentary about this car. I was especially tickled about how my husband's aunt in Laguna Beach during T-giving break was so blown away. She was more impressed than all the men combined. :p

It the old days

Mustang owners would give each other a thumbs up

But times have changed and there is a lot more traffic distraction

I gave and got a thumbs up from a GT-R Sunday

Was a very nice looking one :)

I guess I was thinking more in line with vehicles that have distinctive characteristics. Wranglers, bikers, MINIs, etc. Yeah, Accords and Camry's probably don't fit what I am thinking.

Or, maybe it's just a normal thing with all cars of the category I'm making up. Maybe the Wranglers, bikers, and MINIs are the odd people.
Coming from the Subaru world, i got lots of waves from other Impreza, Forester/wagon owners. The Subie culture is huge and theyre a tight knit bunch. I kind of miss the "family" so to speak. I hear Evo owners were similar, hell, I even got waves and kind gestures from Evo owners in my STi, and those two cars are rivals similar to the Camaro/Mustang.

As a Mustang guy from the late 80's on Long Island, NY- I can assure you that most Mustang owners either flashed or waved at each other. I do it now and only got a couple of responses since I got mine so I think it's more a generational thing as the younger ones are just in their own world lol. Although I'm only 45 so I don't feel that I'm all that old.. :)
I was going to chime in here and say i feel like it may be a generation thing? Maybe it's just first time "sports" car owners who do not know the lingo? I alos see a lot of women driving mustangs (usually the v6 and or verts) who are always in their own little world, so waving is pointless there. (no offense to female owners on here)

I have only been waved to by other types of vehicles in general. Now, i have had a few of the s197 and older stangs pull up next to me at a light and comment on the car, but that is about it.

You guys notice a lot of purposeful disregard?

Yes...that's all I notice...the only wave I've gotten so far was from another '15 driver.

I wave at almost every other mustang and get a lot of look then look away...

Very few Mustang drivers wave at me down here in Houston...

But...my wife claims when she's driving her vintage GT 350 on the weekends...she gets lot of waves from other Mustang drivers...Hummm....maybe she's just exaggerating a bit?? LOL

Lol I'd probably wave at her too...right up until the moment I struck the telephone pole from not looking at the road anymore.

Could it be that they are angry because they feel you are 'stealing their thunder'? Sad, I know ...

When I get my stang, just got an EDD of 5/8, :headbang: I'll wave or give a smile Although I'm in MI and live within 5 miles of a ford plant so I might get tired of waving after a while
