You guys notice a lot of purposeful disregard?
I've noticed it since day 1. Very odd :headbonk:literally look the other way. I have gotten an Audi,a Porsche,And a Newer Cts V. give me thumbs up and motion to roll my window down so they could say how much they liked the car though:thumbsup:

When you had those vehicles, were you getting remarks from drivers of the same vehicles?

I'll admit that I don't wave anymore. I did try in the beginning (especially when on my second day of ownership, a Mustang on the freeway caught up to me and gave me a very enthusiastic thumbs up).

I always seem to get stonewalled from Mustangs of various years though. Maybe it's just too fast for them to react, they think I'm trying to show off, they didn't see me, who knows. I can understand just wanting to focus on driving though, which I'm sure is usually the case.

Have not packed next to or close to any Stangs yet. But I have with other Challengers. Mostly, they look at me with envy or some kind of fear. Don't know why, as I'm sure they will beat me in any race. (fyi, I don't race or will ever think to. So, if they challenge me in a race, I will just let them win.)

I don't mind the obliviousness. What I don't understand is making an effort to ignore. My Shelby example is paradigmatic. They had a chance to catch up to me and pass me (I was driving 25 on a 35 zone). I hit a red light, the driver slows down instead of approaching the red. The light turns green and the driver still drives at a snail pace. It wasn't until I made a right turn to another intersection did I hear his exhaust note.
This is another reason why I sold my stang...NO ONE races. I bought the damn car to race others at the track and on non busy streets and everyone backed down except corvettes. This car is fun to drive but its not going to get people to race you like I thought it would. SO now I went back to comfort and luxury, plus I dont keep cars for more than a year or two.

Those vehicles owners did that while I was driving the Stang. The Cts v was very cool. Love those cars.

Maybe there's hope.
Just hit a red light with a man 2 lanes away (same age group as me: middle aged, maybe that makes a difference) in a triple yellow GT, with the same awesome 20" wheels. Reciprocal wave...woohoo ;)

Agreed, I thought I would have people trying to race me all of the time, but honestly I do not. Like, ever. It's kind of refreshing because when I drive the sti, every dickbag in a manual transmission wanted to run.

Dude these kind of comments have never made any sense to me. Why would a challenger or camaro owner look at you "envy or some kind of fear". First of all, if they were envious, they could probably buy a mustang since they're the same friggin price. Secondly, wtf does anyone have to fear from a car in a parking lot or street aka not a track situation? Do you really think people fear your car? SMH...

while i had my '11 WRX, i would constantly have to look if other subies would wave or not so i can wave back and acknowledge them, otherwise they'll think you're a dick. i never initiated the waves, it has never been my intention to wave at you just because we have similar tastes. the subaru community is a niche group and they like to acknowledge each other at every opportunity. perhaps because subies are so ugly that it takes a special kind of car enthusiast to even purchase one.

in the mustang, i've only been waved at once, by another 15 GT in town, and i was barely able to reciprocate the wave since we were going opposite directions. drivers of older mustangs just look at you then look away immediately, or pretend to have not seen you at all.

now that the weather is getting warmer and the windows are down, ive been getting "hey man nice car" "sweet ride dude" etc while at stoplights or in traffic from random cars/pickup trucks.

Not me. I've had lots of cars on non busy streets run with me since October.

I put those words in quotes because I didn't know how to best describe what I saw. For example. I was driving into the grocery store and there was a Challenger parked. The only remaining parking spot for me was next to them. I didn't car. Walked in, did my shopping. Walked out and noticed two kids outside the challenger. They saw me unloading my groceries into my trunk and just had a hard time making eye contact with me. They were, oh, I don't know, "shy" about it? Whatever the look is, it definitely wasn't a confident look.

Call it what you want. Maybe envy or fear is the wrong word.

This behavior from drivers of older models is what I'm talking about. Oh well. As one other member has said, maybe it will pass. Or, as many have said already, maybe the days when fellow Stangers wave to each other is over.

I'm new to the Mustang world. I thought that waving would be common. I guess it's not or it's becoming less so.

Sorry, I didn't mean for my comments to appear so combative. I'd imagine, they were checking your car out, and then felt like weirdos when the owner came out and they were standing around "his" car.
