Yeah I think the spots came from washing my car at my apartment complex. The only place I can wash it there is in the sun, so that is probably the problem. I am going to only take it to the car wash going forward, or wait for a cloudy day.

But two people have recommended that 3d eraser stuff so far, so I think I'm going to order since it's so cheap.

Thanks everyone for your responses!
Thats one pro of going to a good local car wash is the "spot free rinse" cycle. If it is a good car wash that is well maintained and has a reverse osmosis system (ask the owner or manager they should know) for their spot free rinse cycle it removes all the minerals from the water and when you dry your car you will have a much better finish.

One of the reasons I'll never own a black car again. One was enough for me

Get it cleaned up and have someone throw on a sealant coat for you either opti-coat or cquartz... thank me later

Be careful using any kind of swirl or scratch remover. The clear coats on these cars are super soft and using some of these products that worked great on previous cars will haze the finish which might be more noticeable than the water spots were. Ford really needs to get a better clear coat. Having a black car is tough enough even with a good clear coat.

I have very hard water. Other then drying as fast as I can and washing in the shade, like others have said I found using a clay bar will take out the spots.

I rubbed the shit out of my black GT with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish. No haze ... looks better than when I started.

I think the clear coat is actually pretty thick as I rubbed out some pretty deep scratches by hand and didn't go through the clear coat.

I didn't say it was thin I said it was soft. Just using your hand you won't have to worry about rubbing through the clear coat. I'm glad your car looks great I guess mine and many others have a softer clear coat than yours. I would just suggest to anyone proceed with caution and do a test spot first and check it out in direct sunlight from every angle when your done.

I noticed after detailing my car the other day there were some water spots all over the paint that I only could see at certain angles in really bright light. These spots cannot be wiped away, and I have even tried Meguiars swirl remover hoping it could remove them. Are these "etched" into my paint? Anyone have any experience removing this type of stuff from ford paint? I will try to get some pictures posted shortly of the spots.
I have the same problem with my car. My water spots are from the sprinklers running at night. I have cleaned the car and clayed it and the spots are still visible in certain lights/angles. I think I will try the vinegar solution next time I'm ready to wax. Let me know what you end up doing and what worked.

I didn't mean to imply you thought the clear coat was thin. I'm just saying if there are some pretty deep scratches they will most likely come out if buffed out carefully. And yes, I would agree that the clear coat is soft ... and that's probably also the reason scratched can be removed pretty easily after it gets scratched easily.
