I bought my 2018 GT350 a little over a week ago from a ford dealer. It has 7500 miles and is Ford Blue Advantage Gold Certified pre-owned. The dealer offered me a Ford Premium Care 4 year warranty for $2895. I called Granger Ford to see what they could do, and they said $5440 for 6 years or 75,000 miles for a Ford Premium Care warranty. It will never see 75,000 miles. I plan on tracking it two or three times a year, plus drive it on the street. Do these prices seem right to you guys? The dealer said I wouldn't need an inspection because its Ford Blue Advantage Gold Certified pre-owned, which is pretty much what they would do at and inspection for a warranty on a used car. I was told it wouldn't be available if it wasn't Ford Blue Advantage Gold Certified pre-owned. I have 30 days from the purchase date to make the decision. I would feel a lot more comfortable with a warranty beyond the one year I got with the car for the Ford Blue Advantage Gold Certified pre-owned. After reading some of the posts on warranty problems, does this sound like a good idea? Normally I don't purchase extended warranties, but with the cost of repairs on this car and the possibilities of problems I think it might make more sense. Basically it comes down to $907/year for the 6 year from Granger, and $724/year for four years from the dealer I bought it from. $5440 would go a ways towards rebuilding the engine if I had to rebuild it out of my pocket. Any input would be appreciated.

It’s a loaded question that really depends on perspective. If your going to keep the power train stock and track it several times a year I’d buy the warranty. It also depends on how long you plan on keeping the car. If its long term, again I’d buy the warranty. I get we all have different financial situation but considering what your intentions are its relative inexpensive for some piece of mind. If I was buying another R to track it’d be a low mileage and I’d buy the warranty myself.

Personally would do the 4 year re: cost benefit. You car is low mileage and you may not have enough use on it to tell if A/C and oil consumption are problems which could easily cover its cost. Hopefully you will put enough miles on it! Caution as per other thread on modifying it for track as extended warranty denial for track use whether right or wrong is nevertheless a possibility. For most cars I wouldn't extend the warranty but I would on this vehicle and I'm glad I did for mine as had both issues at over 45k miles.

I plan on keeping this car for a long time. Usually when I get a car I like I keep them for a long time. Like my 70 Boss 302 I had for 40 years, my 69 Shelby GT350 34 years, my Z 15 years.... I didn't get to try the A/C since it was in mid 20's when I was driving it home 200 miles and now its sitting until spring. I'm leaning towards the 4 year right now. I don't understand why the cost per year is app $200 more for the 6 year warranty.

Ask for, and read, all the fine print. That is my number one suggestion. I went through dozens of plans before I found one for my situation.

I bet the fine print will explain why one is one price, and one is another. That explained the gap in prices when I was looking. One had language along the lines of we will cover engine failures, except in instances where failure is due to an oiling failure. 🤔

If we weren't informed that it was a certified pre-owned vehicle we may not have quoted it correctly. That sounds high for us. Would you mind messaging me your vin and mileage and I can verify that price is correct for you?

When is the warranty in service date?

You need to make sure those warranty terms are for miles and years from now vs from time of in service.

I would get the 4 yr ESP warranty. Also to remember the car & Y'all's phone has GPS & they will or can refuse a claim based on use or driving location. Read all the fine print. Good Luck.

They offered a 6 year 40,000 Ford ESP for a pretty good price that we are going to probably go with once I get a copy and can read the fine print.
