huge margins on ford replacement parts, they reduce the margin and increase their volume

There are multiple items that you must do before tracking your GM car. These include changing your oil to a heavier weight oil, removing your wheels to put on the cooling hats. If you competitively race, GM will void your warranty just as fast as Ford. They do not say "go have fun with your car" when discussing any competitive events. Oh, and after a session you need to take the cooling rings off, change the oil and brake fluid. If you have a Z06 none of this will matter much as heat soak will kill your lap times after 2 laps. Chevy did track day guys no favor by S/C the Z06.

I'm not a fanboy of Ford and have and still have a Corvette but saying GM just tells you to "Take your car and use it" is inaccurate. If they determine you abused your car, they will void your power train warranty. Some may say there is protection under magnusun-moss but Ford/GM can void your PT warranty and then you need to take them to court where they need to prove it was something you did. Good luck with that. GM has teams of lawyers and will fight and stall every way they can.
Actually its even worse than that, you take them to court it will not be be criminal court but civil court. It is on you the owner to prove the accused of wrongfully voiding your warranty, and the ruling is based on the highest probability rather than "proven guilty without reasonable doubt". Good luck ever be able to prove that in court.

Famous words, if you are tracking or driving any car hard, don't ever be fully confident in the warranty, and be ready to "Pay to Play". At least then you won't be in for a rude awakening when something does happen and the manufacturer decides to tell you to pound sand lol

I wouldn't say that the margins are "huge". Plus it depends on what type of parts you are referring to. Autonation's price is roughly 19% off in this case. yes, its almost $4k, but percentage wise there's not as much as one might think. Most everyday products have far more % markup. In many cases wholesale and repair facilities make more on the parts than the selling dealer.

Your position is valid. However, so far, Ford has replaced every motor under warranty with no challenge to include an entire car. Probably more to do with the fact that most of the failed engines have less than 5k miles. So far, Ford's record shows they are upholding the warranty.

I forget, was your problem an oil consumption one? I'm getting screennames and engine failures mixed up from chatting with so many of you!

Yup excessive oil and then coolant. I was thinking about starting a master "engine replacement" thread. But, not sure if it is neccasary or not.

Make sure to call Ford Customer Service and initiate a claim. You will get more current information and receive it much faster. My dealer is doing well but they hit a road block when seeking approval for the engine replacement. Started a claim coinciding with my dealer visit and next thing you know, WAMO!!! I have an approval and awaiting a build date.

Thanks for the heads up. In my case it sounds like Ford is the one pushing the engine change, but the dealer still needs final approval?

Don't know how many people are on these forums and as a percentage of all GT350 buyers, but does it seem like quite a few engine/car replacement problems that we know about? Might be worthwhile to have a running tally.

Maybe they're continuing FPC production to 2020 not because they're extending the GT350 beyond this year but because they need replacements.
