Guys, I don't think we should have to do any extra engineering to make a $500 set of shocks work. I think people need to stop buying the shocks until there is some kind of fix from Viking and/or BMR. The crickets have been chirping now for a couple months and as one of the original people with an issue I haven't heard anything.

Just put mine on today and I have the rattle ... I did use the factory bump stops like you did but did it a much easier way ... Just remove the top of the shock mount and the jam nut and slide the bump stop and dust boot right on and then reinstall the jam nut and stud ..
The factory bump stop for the regular (non-PP) GT has a larger diameter shaft and larger bump stops to match. I'm sure it was way easier to get on using your method. Glad it fits.

If you do have the performance pack and want the bump stops you want to order part number FR3Z-5K570-A vs the FR3Z-5K570-C (PP one).

Mine has the rattle or clunk or whatever you want to call it ..so you added two washers to the very top ( threads )and that fixed it ? Or did you add one washer to the lower of the black part and one on the top ?
After much messing around with these shocks it would appear that the noise issue is not coming from the upper shock mounting. IMO it is time for the engineers. I wouldn't spend a whole lot of effort on new fasteners.

I had my Vikings on and off a few times today ... Tried a few things listed on the thread to stop the rattle , no luck .. They still rattle .. I did call Kelly @ BMR and he helped me the drag setting on the shocks ..He also had me cut down the factory bump stop 3/4 of an inch and reinstall it along with the dust boot .. Kelly said we need to use the bump stop ...

They seem to work good but for 500 bucks you should not have a rattle .. It sounds like you left a lug wrench lose and it's bouncing around the trunk .. You hear it at low speeds the most , as speeds get higher the rattle seems to go away ...I spent a lot of time today looking the shock and the mount over to see if I could fine a reason for the rattle .. I found nothing that would cause a rattle like this ..

I'm going to run it at the track just as they are because I don't feel the rattle will cause any problem other than bugging the crap out of me ..

If some body comes up with a fix for this please post up !!!

Looking forward to the fix Kelly and I will definitely want your upper shock mount. I am not even using the Viking shocks right now due to the noise. Frustrating to me as they ride light years better than the stock PP shocks I just can't stand the rattling.

Very, very much looking forward to the fix.

Thanks for all you do Kelly!

Jaime
I'm with you Jmeo ..

I went to the track last night , the track was so bad nobody could hook .. So I never got a real chance to see what these shocks could do ..

I removed my Vikings today because of the rattling and clunking .. I put the stock shocks back on and all the clunking and rattling stopped .. I have no clue what is causing this but I will not put them back on until there is some kind of fix for the clunking ...

Are you guys getting a metallic rattle or a higher pitched squeak?

I had an Eibach pro kit installed with the Viking shocks. It rides a ton better vs stock but I'm getting a high pitched squeak.

the Viking has been our goto shock on the 05-14 cars, and now on the 15's, 1.4's, and I see 1.3 at least in the future on the irs

I just put a set on our shop ecoboost car last night, and I don't know if I'm tamed with all the drag stuff we do. but the shocks don't bother me at all.

like I said, maybe I'm tame, but I love the shocks

I had a high pitched squeak that I assumed originated in the suspension bushings. Went away when I put the OEM shocks back on. Not sure about root cause but there you have it.

Just disconnected the passenger rear shock and bounced the car. The squeak is gone.

Beefcake, how should I go about trying to get replaced? It's not a subtle noise, it's a loud high pitched squeak.

Edit: Adding video link. Phone is in the trunk while I bounce on the rear a couple times.

Did you just return then? One of them doesn't make noise and the other does.

I reached out to Viking and they advised this is the a new issue to them. I'm going to ship them back so they can go through them and ship them back. If the noise remains I'll send them back for a refund.

Only confirmed the link between the Vikings and squeaking when I took them off. I talked to Viking enough to be a pest and never did bring up the squeaking sound. Hope there is a fix. Seemed like a great product otherwise.

so far for me they have been a "GREAT" ride, but I have noticed there has been a lot of unwanted noise (rattling almost sounds like something is loose) going to put my stock back on & see if that clears it up>

So I just got back from a ride with my stock shocks on. rattling is gone. Before I put them back on I did inspect the Vi-king's to see if there was anything loose, found nothing. after I took them off looked to see if there was anything rubbing, banging anything that may cause the noise I encountered, no smoking guns. I'm going to play around with an idea & see if that helps.
