I was perusing auto trader, today, and was amazed at the large inventory of USED M1's with between 15 miles to -2000 miles max and many others well under 5,000 miles.

What is the deal on this trend? Seats? ride?
Owner dissatisfaction? Am I missing something?

I think maybe a lot were bought to try and flip for a profit. The M1 started during covid period when things were nuts. Large ADM s etc etc... Others like myself ordered and waited but got under invoice prices and I ll bet many of those got re sold for a profit.(or attempted) .
That s my guess... esp with the low miles you have observed.

Not doubting what you are seeing, but to say its a "large inventory" might be incorrect. One would need to measure it against another car in same class with similar production numbers.

On an anecdotal note, I would see listings for Mustang GTs and Camaros with very low miles on used market. I always wondered about cars like that. Must be from wealthier owners who just treat them strictly as toys and could easily move on from their purchased to something else if so desired.

My theory is that since this car warms our hearts were looking and researching more. I look at housing market around my house about once a month. NEVER did that before i lived where i do.

I also look at mach market often but not for other cars who could be doing the same.

Probably car flippers when new gen is coming. Those people don't really care about the car, they change them like socks.

Plus they finally got to making some dealer cars in 2022-2023, some that might not be sold that easily now.

People were trying to flip them for a profit during the supply chain disruption. Friend of my dad bought 4 Corvettes, 1 to own, 3 to flip. Now it's all flopped.

Problem is a premium loaded GT is like $10k or more cheaper with only 20 less hp. And the base mach wheels are horrible looking.
I personally would not be buying the Mach 1 for 20 HP... There is a lot more that goes into the Mach 1: Suspension tune, Tremec, coolers, subframe, HP package, etc....

If you want to do any kind of road course or HDPE, the Mach 1 is awesome. It's probably even worth it to just hit up the twisties and mountain roads.

I think a lot of folks bought these thinking they’d be good daily drivers ( like a GT) and found out the gas mileage and track focused orientation gets old quick for some folks. it’s the same as what happened to GT350, there was a bunch resale also.

No they aren’t. They look most classic and quite nice.

Mine is totally different.

I was chasing down a M1 listed as used with only 500 miles on it. Way too much work later I did find out that the owner traded it at only 3 months old for a Dodge. Well, his loss. Guess the guy wanted a drag racer and didn't care about turning. Yeah, like turning and braking are overrated...
