Seem to have lost the ability to charge the iPhone using USB port either in the console or above the console.

Ford said you’d have to remove the console to replace whatever controls the ports.

Any suggestions or similar experiences?

It's more likely to be your phone, or your charging cable, than the car.

Have you checked those?

You do understand those charging ports only work when the car is running, right?

Yep.......could be the settings on the phone itself.

OP, how old are you?

Check the phone’s charging slot. Sometimes a piece of lint will prevent a phone from charging. Also, agree on the usb cable as a possible culprit.

We’ll I’m 73 and still fly helicopters but open to anything I’m not familiar with.

A ‘17 California Special and when having the rear camera recall accomplished the technician tried with his Apple cord and didn’t work for him either. Said I’d have to bring it back in.
So I’ll check what all of you have suggested.

Truly appreciate everyone’s responses!
Thanks,
RWP

Try checking the fuse too (not sure which one it is, would have to check the manual). Seems odd that both ports would fail at the same time so it might be something as simple as the fuse going out

Did this start before the recall work, or after?

His cord didn't work with whose phone? His or yours?

The only thing common network 3 ports is fuse.if it didn't work with techs cord it can't be cord.its fuses 53 and 54 20amp fuses.you can look at them and see if they're bad.you can also just swicth the 20 Amp with another to verify which one us bad
I've got extra fuses which I always do with cars.just a suggestion.

There's other reasons the tech's cord wouldn't work;

-It could be the wrong cord.
-The OP's phone settings could be set wrong.
-Even the tech may not know the car needs to be running. Many other cars will keep charging when the car is fully off.

Hold down the skip forward arrow and the power button until sync resets, the system is honestly very unreliable and sometimes requires a full hard reset to get working again. It can and does shut off charging to the ports if there is a software error.

If it still doesn't work, and you've verified that the phone and the cable are good then its likely the USB hub inside the center console. They do fail.

Fords Sync system is kind of bad if I'm honest, I've had issues on multiple Fords with it.

Does that do a hard re-set where updates need to be done again?

No that is basically the same as leaving the battery unplugged for a while. A master reset will delete all saved data in the radio, like bluetooth connections; but a master reset doesn't seem to solve many problems at all for the sync system. I am not sure if there is a way to do a hard reset where you have to redo the updates
