I have the older version of this (No USB’s) and it has worked well for years.

I've had those as well but the newer Lithium based ones pack sooo much more power into such a small light weight package and the charge lasts such a long time. I've left the one I have untouched for 6 months and still had 98% charge where the old lead acid based ones had to be charged 3 or 4 times a year. The compressor is a nice addition but decent tiny compressors are not that expensive if you have to have one and they are smaller as well. In fact, l keep a jump pack and separate compressor in opposite saddle bags on the bike. They take up very little space but give big peace of mind.

Oh that was just for phone charging.

For the car and as a flash light and USB, I have this in the trunk.

I really do prefer the slightly bigger jump pack style. To me a simple charger like that is a one-trick-pony where a jump pack can save you, or friends, from having to wait around and they have flash lights in addition to charging devices.

I use the port in the console. It only charges when the car is running and my iPhone has to be unlocked.
Maybe you meant for Apple CarPlay to work, it has to be unlocked? I've never heard of a phone needing to be unlocked to be charged via any car's USB port....

I bought it, hoping not to have to use it...but I've probably used it over 10 times, fortunately only once on one of my own vehicles. I did use it to jump a friend's F150 and another's Dodge Truck with a V8 and it worked fine. I have to remind myself to charge it every four months or so.

Have you used it yet? I bought a similar one from Autozone (they had a nice rebate, https://www.autozone.com/miscellane...hium-portable-battery-jump-starter/567690_0_0), it has USB, flashlight and supposed to be able to turn over a V8 engine. I'm guessing it's got the same guts just different outer shell.
If I never use mine, that's all great.
