Hey all,

I'm trying to figure out what bigger tire size I should move to after increasing my hp a tad. You all know the stock tire sizes, what do you think? 285, 295 or 305 in the rear? And should I stay with the 255 for the front? 45zr or drop to 30 or 35?

Thanks for your input!

you need at least 275 up front, but many/most settle on 285 (or more) for going around corners. If only going straight, you can put on 2" red wagon tires and it doesn't matter.

If you fancy a drive over to Manassas you can choose from my tire and wheel emporium. I have Cup2, SC3, SC3R, PSS, PS4S and new wheel sets from 19x9.5/10.5 and 19x10/11, 20x11, and some others.

What tire you put under there is more important than just size. More meat helps, but if it's a crap tire then it won't make a big difference over stock.

If you've got power and you need to launch from a dig, there's no reason to go any smaller than a 305 on an 11" wheel. Those are easy to fit. Up front depends on what you're doing with the car. If you need more lateral grip then going with a 285 on a 10" wheel is again a solid choice and easily done.

There's a reason most aftermarket wheels come in square 10" or staggered 10/11" sizes.

275 or 285 seems big. what about going down to a 35 or 30 zr? some of the tires I've been looking at don't have a 40zr in a 305

it's my personal collection and no I haven't yet sprung for a no-touch tire machine. I use a couple places that have Hunter Roadforce equipment.

275/35 or /40
285/35
305/30 or /35
is where pretty much all performance tires land.
drag radials are a different breed altogether.

I mean you don't want a 305/40 tire...that's for a truck not a car. You have to take into account the width and adjust the sidewall to a lower one like you mentioned to keep the overall tire diameter as close as possible to the OEM one. So a 285 would be 35 sidewall and a 305 and up would be a 30 sidewall.

The OEM Bullitt rims?

Nope.

Best you'll do is 265 fronts, 285 rears. Rim width is not really there to go larger than that. You'd be looking at wider rims if you want real rubber.

ok, thanks ALL! Guess it's time to start looking for new rims. I don't want to because I want to keep the BULLITT look
