Tried to search but couldn't find anything. Through previous readings I know Ford changed PCVs on MY16 cars at some point, but do we know when? Is there a place to check my VIN to see if it falls under the TSB, or a way for me to visually inspect to see if I have the new or old PCV?

Get a mirror and look under the intake manifold. If you have a barcode, you have the old PCV. If you have a QR code, you have the updated one.

If I'm looking for the white and orange tag, mine has the barcode. I assume my options are to either take it to the dealership or do it myself. Can I buy the revised one somewhere?

Why buy it and do it yourself when the dealer does it for free ? TSB 15-0192

In my case, the dealer won't do the work. They won't just do work without a reason. In the case of this one, the TSB is for, "2.3L GASOLINE TURBOCHARGED DIRECT INJECTION (GTDI) -EXCESSIVE EXHAUST SMOKE AFTER EXTENDED IDLE". My car doesn't smoke at idle so they will not do the work.

I still went ahead and purchased the new separator because my understanding is, it was designed for turbo applications. In their words, they say it is or isn't, "equipped with a high flow crankcase vent oil separator system." Since I want better oil separation, I'm doing the work myself.

By the way, the ford part number is: FR3Z-6A785-C
I don't remember the exact cost but I think I spent $28 for that and the set of 4 intake gaskets.

Surprised that they wouldnt do the work. Most techs are flat rate and will jump on an easy bit of time. Costs the dealership nothing!

This link below has a copy of the tsb and what to look for. It is still well worth it to update yourself if the dealership won't because the updated piece does a much better job of separation.

It's says under the TSB that it's covered under the provisions of new car warranty. I'd be contacting Ford Customer Service.

Agreed. They did mine no questions asked. Just tell them the car starts smoking when you sit in traffic. Thats what I did along with even giving them the TSB number and they just fixed it.

This thread had me go and look since mine is a very early 16, there is a white and orange tag with a barcode near the PCV but that is not the actual tag stuck to the PCV itself. Mine has a QR code and was really hard to see, took me about 20 minutes with the mirror to find it. Don't know if yours is the same but you might want to double check.

I don't have smoke. My car was built in 2/2015. Does this build date guarantee the the old PCV?

A TSB is not a recall, the dealer will not get paid by Ford for the work if the car does not meet the provisions of the TSB. The tech may be paid flat rate but they don't make the decision of whether warranty work gets done.

Also, why would you want to do it if your car does not smoke? I subscribe to the principle; "If it ain't broke don't fix it".

You may want to reconsider doing this yourself. I read the TSB, as it also applies to 2015's. Here is the paragraph that concerns me for DIY:

"4. Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 98.03 or higher. Make sure
you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates. Calibration files may
also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com"
