Greetings to all, first post on this forum :first:.

I have look through several "PCV" threads including that long upr vs mishimoto one but can really find any design details of the stock system. Only that it doesn't seem to work as in allowing crankcase oil vapors to escape.

Some questions...

1. What does the stock PCV oil baffle / separator look like, is it a mesh pad a cyclonic separator or both? (hoping for the latter :D)

2. Where (location on engine "usually" in valve cover) or which of the two PCV ports does the stock system clean?

3. Whats that "plate" under the intake ports? Does it just function as a pathway for the gasses or does it have a check valve / membrane built in?

This is my first unnaturally aspirated car and DI at that (I found out after I ordered :ninja: DI part lol) I came from an infiniti g37. I drew up a simple diagram of the PCV from what I have gather from the other threads and made some "additions".

Pls have a look and if you see a problem with the layout, feel free to point it out.

1)No mesh AFAIK on PCV side ,it is mounted/part of that side plate on driver side block under IM .
2)PCV can me mounted many places as long as it connects to crankcase .above gives location 1) .
3) read 1) .

Here overview , Ford calls these PCV parts wrong IMO , but anyway .
PCV is mounted in the upper block plate below IM, during non boost vapors get sucked to the IM from there (PCV open) . Also fresh air is drawn in from turbo inlet pipe to valve cover .
During boost PCV should closed (you don't want to pressurize crankcase) , and vapors get drawn in from valve cover to the inlet pipe on turbo .

Thanks for the reply, so it looks like there will be some sort of separator for both the block port and the valve cover port (assuming ford used similar designs as the 2.0).

Also when people refer to the PCV valve, is it an actual cylindrical inline check valve or are they referring to the plate located under the intake manifold as in the check valve is built into the plate?

there good pic in the "blue smoke out exhaust" thread , but yes there the check valve that swivels in the plate .
Thing is Ford sells it as whole assembly AFAIK ,at least that's how it is listed on there online parts list.
