^^^This is no longer an issue as the upper part has been redesigned by MGW to center it perfectly.
Thank you great to hear. Just ended my only doubt with this shifter. Going to purchase this Monday at lethals sale. Unless anyone knows a better price.

I just bought a Barton from the classifieds here. Looked at both carefully for the past two years at Mustang Week. Barton won out because I like the trashy reverse lock out. I just ordered the billit replacement this morning.
I'll be able to install it in a couple of weeks. But I am planning on removing the springs all together. I want the stock feel.
Before you remove the springs, try driving with it the way it is for a few miles. I actually don't mind it. It's supposed to loosen up from driving. I plan on driving it for about 500 miles and then see how it feels.

RadRubyRed can help provide some feedback on the Steeda Tri-Ax ... he traveled down to our Valdosta location & had it installed - he is very pleased with the results.

He is a great resource if you are on the fence.

Best Regards,

TJ

Yep... The Steeda TRI-AX Race Shifter is great. As TJ stated, I drove up from my Tampa location about 10 days ago to Steeda's Valdosta location and had them install if for me. It is exactly as I expected. 30% throw reduction and very tight shifts. Love it!!!

I ended up going withe the tri-ax. It was a toss up between it and the mgw, but the tri-ax costing a less up front and then a 10% forum discount on top of that pushed me to the Steeda.

After sitting on it for most of the summer, I am finally having it installed tomorrow.

I cant go wrong with either and I have been leaning towards the tri-ax because of the reverse thing. But how easy is it to push down to get it into reverse? I just don't like that its a push down to go into reverse. It just worries me trying to shift and the shift knob getting depressed down.

At first it's extremely stiff, and takes a lot of effort to push down into reverse, but it loosens up a fair bit. Not sure why you would be putting downwards pressure on the shifter as you're shifting through gears though? It would be very difficult to do that with a normal shifting grip. I have to put my palm on top of the knob and push down to get into reverse, there's no way I could get enough downforce holding it any other way

Well I have my hand on top of the shift knob when shifting. I wouldn't say full palm but still some very light pressure is applied. Not sure how else you would shift?
