Hey anyone swap a tremec from a Mach 1 or Bullit into a regular GT with a MT82? Would it be easy or is there weird things that need to be done for it to work. I have a 2018 GT and I am strongly considering the swap after having felt how good they feel.

One thing to look for is if your car has the gear select sensor (mounted on the transmission). I thought this started on 2019 with rev-match but another post noted that the 2018 MT82 also has the sensor in which case it could be very difficult to change transmissions.

Yeah I don't have the auto rev match in mine.

What you really want is a Magnum XL swap. Should run about $6-7k in parts, probably another 2k to have it all installed by a reputable shop.

That is a bit over kill. I do not need a trans built to hold that much power. Some of the 3160 I have seen on sale were like $2500-$3500. Which would be much more reasonable price wise. Some 3160 I find new are even cheaper but meant for different cars.

If you think you'll save a bunch of money on a 3160 swap over the Magnum XL, go right ahead

The GT350 TR3160 setup is a direct bolt in on a GT, not anything like any other Tremec swap.
(Knowing this is a bit of an old thread...)
You don't have to swap out a crossmember or transmission mounts?
Do the MT82 and TR3160 have all the same plugs for electronic doohickeys?

There is a GT350 cross member and mount and I think it is a little softer, based on the feel in hand, than the GT, probably to absorb more vibration. I think some people who have swapped reused their GT cross member and mount.

Interested in this swap. Specifically the 2021 Mach 1 trans as it has rev match and is a Tremec trans. Assume it is the 3160. Anyone know the part number for the Mach 1 trans?

Would the 3160 swap also require a different PCM or would the existing just need to be tuned for it?

Multiple people have swapped the GT350 TR3160 into 15-18 GTs and you should adjust the gear ratios in the tune so the car knows what to expect when it compares RPMs to wheel speed.

But do we even know the 3160 is stronger / more durable / shifts easier / etc. than the MT-82D4? Some versions of the 3160 have low specs for torque capacity (although these also have a high numerical 1st gear which can weaken a transmission).
