Does anyone know what a stage 2 calimer mt82 is rated at?
His website says the Stage 2 with his recommended clutch and 26 spline input shaft will support 600 hp.

The 3160 is a great trans and with cailmer coming out with a stage 3 build next year with the GForce gear set I think it’ll be a heavy hitter
The 3160 has hollow main/countershafts and weaker Syncros than the MT-82.
Ben does what he does. If there's a demand for it, he'll build it. Nothing wrong
with that.

stock clutch. Main shaft will support 600 no problem. Plenty out in the wild.

I’ve been almost 2 years and 10k miles with the roush phase 2 on my mt-82 car. No issues yet. I’m intrigued with the 3160 swap idea though. Would be something to consider if I ever do break anything.

I was going to just get it warranted when it broke but they denied the claim so to having a aftermarket clutch so that’s why I’m passing the idea around

I'd be interested in understanding Ford's logic in how an aftermarket clutch could contribute to a transmission clutch fork fracturing?

Yea I’m not sure they didn’t even try to diagnose it just saw I had a rst and they denied it

Not sure, but so called Calimer to ask him about buying one of his billet gearsets and he asked if I was running a McLeod RXT clutch. I told him I was running a Ram Pro Street twin disc and he said either way, the tranny would break.

That’s interesting, did he explain why or say what clutch’s are safe?

Unfortunately, he didn’t explain. His website shows he’s recommending Vengeance Stage 1 & 2, McLeod RST and Mantic clutches with his builds.

Here’s a pic of two broken MT82 input shafts that I found on another forum. The car that broke them was reportedly making 761/598 @ the tire.

Additional information is as follows:

Car has only been launched from idle on 18" drag radials. First shaft broke on a 2-3 shift at the track. 2nd one broke on a 4-5 shift, highway, street tires.

The MT82 is rated for 383ft lbs.

I ended up just having ordering a stage 3 calimer with the 5-6 billet fork upgrade was the better option I think I’m just stuck between a vengeance stage 2 or mantic heard good things from both and the vengeance is cheaper has anyone had any issues with them?

Cool! 1-6 billet shift forks is as good as you can get. Will you be keeping your tranny or sending it in? I don’t know much about either of those clutches, other than reading about a couple of members on here, who had issues with their Mantics. If you’re going to drag race, I recommend cerametallic, no matter which clutch you’ll be running. They are supposed to handle higher temps and launches better.
