Last Sunday, we finally had some decent weather so I decided to go for a drive. After a short 15 minute drive, I encountered a major problem.

While stopped at a light, I looked up to see a massive white cloud in the rear view mirror. I was instantly worried and checked for a dummy light. Nothing popped up yet.

Light went green and I proceeded. Well, the cloud got a lot bigger and followed me. Then all the dummy lights came on. I found the first safe turn off and got off the road.

I found a long trail of what I assumed was oil. Looked under the car to find a massive leak. Then called the wrecker.

Today, I was able to get it on a lift at work and was able to find the problem. A tranny line lost its bolt and it puked out all of it’s fluid. Line also looks pinched/dinged from when the bolt launched off.

Needless to say, I’m not touching this issue. My girl is off to a stealership for repair. Everyone might want to check their lines for loose bolts.

On a side note, while waiting for the wrecker, a matching GT500 pulled up and I made a new friend. A gentleman living just 2 short miles from me as a matching CFTP FPB with painted OTT stripes. Only had his for 4 days. What a small world.

I’ll keep you posted on how Ford takes care of this issue.

I like to disassemble things.
You are lucky there wasn't a fire.

Interesting that I see medium (blue) thread locker on the bolt boss face and not so much in the threaded hole for the bolt. I hope you caught it early and that there was still sufficient fluid in the DCT sump while it was operating.

Ugh, this is exactly the kind of thing that should NOT happen. I get it, some things get missed, but wow this is a big miss. Could have been a life safety issue (fire), or a burned (and expensive) transmission. Unacceptable.

Man, I want my car back so I can spend the winter double checking for these kind of things.

That's exactly what I told him. His original description of the symptoms led me to believe his oil pressure sensor came loose or his oil filter. I know I'm going to check the torque on that and and any other critical connection.

Back to the "Ford what is your problem" thread............

I’m very lucky there was no fire. I too am going over the entire car as I clean the undercarriage. She is totally covered in fluid. It’s a hot mess.

I would turn it over to Ford and let them clean it up. As we discussed, don't go digging too far into the problem. You've gone way above and beyond by diagnosing it, don't let anyone get the idea you were messing with it.

You were reading my mind, Tob...ultra lucky nothing ignited, John...whew!

Any issues with the wrecker and the splitter?

I agree with Tom, I'd hand it right over to the dealer. Much as I hate to say it, I believe that If the bean counters in warranty land can find a reason not to belly up, they will.

So sorry, John but like the others have said, I hope it's a quick re-lube and go.

Geeze. Hopefully the transmission is still intact and no excessive wear or damage occurred. That and hopefully the dealer truly assesses the trans and don't just fill er' back up/clear codes. Did the temps creep up?

Add it to the list of pre-delivery inspection issues to look at. Coolant hose routing, wiring harness routing, panel fit, etc. Now transmission line bolt torque.

Hopefully since fluid was still coming out after you stopped, no real damage was done.

I will definitely be leaving it to a dealership to deal with. Trying to track down a service department I can trust.

Loading the car on and off the record was a pain in the ass. My brothers and I had to help the driver and used multiple blocks. I ordered my own trailer today.

i’m trying to find a good dealership. Does anyone know anyone in Tulsa?

After looking closer, it appears the threads are stripped....
