I'm experiencing this with my stock summer tires -> michelin pilot sport 4s.
I'm using the Nexen Winguard 2 XL in winter.

I experienced the difference when I moved from winter to summer tires, 2 days ago. The steering wheel feels heavier, and as you described there is sometimes the tramlining effect. I did not experienced that with the winter tires.

So I also think its all about the tires.

I think it is the toe. The stickier tire will cause a bit more toe out than the lesser tire. I'd add 1/2 degree of toe in.

The 2018 with SC2's I test drove had terrible tramlining.

The only time I notice it on the Falken RT660s is when I first drive it in the morning for like the first half mile. Thats also the only time I notice any slipping at the tires. Mornings have been 45F so im chalking it up the tramlining to cold tires and terrible roads.
