Fellas -

On my 350R I widened up those rear tires. Anyone who is spending a lot of time on the track swap out the 315 for some wider tires? 325 or 335 on the carbon wheels?

What are you fellas running?

Thanks!

What’s more important then tire size, is how the car feels under you and what works with your driving style, taking into consideration straight line speed, cornering stability, vehicle pivoting and the speeds that you enter/exit the corners. So I would really work on finding out what works best for you instead of asking for a one size fits all answer.
Good luck

As a rule of thumb, the S550 is a front heavy understeering car , gt500 is i believe 56/44, so going wider in the back will only increase this characteristic

Was not looking for a one size fits all answer - was asking if fellas are going with anything other than stock.

Not A stranger to the track on any imagine - have my racing license and Have logged countless sessions in my gt350r and my amg GTR pro.

Thought it could make for some discussion - apparently not.

Suspect most guys here are just garage queens these days. Unfortunate.

Anyway, I’ll see myself out.

My fault I thought you where asking a legitimate question about size and performance. 👍🏼

As I posted in the other thread, I run mostly Nankang crs To meet my clubs 200tw rules. They make 305 and 325 20’s. They also make a 100tw ar1 in a fat 305. Goodyear sc3r is also available in 305. 325 crs square fits on apex 20x11.5 et48 with longer studs and spacers up front. was 5th overall and 2nd in class at the scca time trial event at NCM with that setup a couple of weeks ago.

I have many track days on my procharged gt350 and ran 305/19 fronts and 325/19 rears.....hands down the goodyear sc3 and sc3R were the best grip.....cup2 I didn't like got greasy after 2 laps and kept sliding

Now with the 20 wheels on gt500 we are stuck with small goodyear sc3 rears 305/20 which won't work you need fat tires to grip when getting out of turns

I guess the nankang crs are the best option? Where can I get these?

You're on the wrong forum, my man.
TrackMustangsOnline is where you go for track content. 95% of Mustang6G is extremely basic and trivial questions or car show posts.

For what it's worth, I run the typical 305 square but I do know a few folks who run 305/325. Another guy runs 335 square but with aftermarket fenders.
The majority of people are going to be square because you can rotate tires and bring fewer spares to the track.

so how do the nankang crs compare to the goodyear SC 3 ?

maybe put goodyear 305 fronts and CRS 325 rears? mix and match
The nankangs are noticeably stickier than the SC3. They are in the range of the falken rt660, re71rs, yoko a052, but less than sc3r or R7. Mixing them might give you too much push. I ran 305/325 nankangs last summer and that worked really well for me. I'm trying to make the 325 square work now, but times have been basically the same as 305/325.
