Have in mind rounding up another set of wheels for the track.Would like to hear from you guys that run both the stock set of 19x11 & 19x11.5 'R' & the 19x 11 squared. Want to make the right choice if there is one.

Another question, how often does one rotate with the squared set up?

TIA, Rex

Often wondered why Ford just didn't use a squared set up to begin with on the 'R' wheels?

Not an expert but after researching and talking with Paul at PK Auto design I went with forgeline GS1R in a square 19x11 setup. I should be able to run everything from a 295-315. In order to run square you will need to either buy the r hubs or add arp extended lugs to your current hubs. I opted to just buy r hubs, you then use a 25mm slide on hub centric spacer (not a bolt on spacer). This will allow you to rotate your tires.

OooOooH - a question I can answer with relevance! Ha!

I run a 19x11 squared setup with 305/30R19 Cup 2s on them. I went with the Signature SV502s. They're fully forged - so extremely strong and light (mine weigh 20.4lbs, 46.4lbs with the Cup2s mounted). They also have 1/2in of caliper clearance - my OEM wheels had 1/4in.

I rotate after every track day. I did 2 days at Thunderhill a couple weeks ago. Thunderhill is REALLY tough on the right front tire, so the beginning of day 2, I put the right front on the left rear, moved the right rear to the right front, etc.

Really, really happy with my setup. Super light, very strong, and built specifically for Motorsport. Price will come in between your typical $2K wheels from 6GRs/Apex/P51 and the Forgelines.

They do not. My understanding is because the R style wheel is inherently heavy (when not made of CF of course!). If you look at the Vibe wheels, they weigh in close to 22-24lbs (if memory serves correctly) even though they're fully forged and made similarly.

They're not as bad to clean as you'd think. Because the face of the spoke is so thing, so it's very easy to clean with a wheel woolie since you don't have to attack each one at multiple angles.

Signature does offer the SV501 - which is a thin 10 spoke wheel.

I just bought a set of forgelines...when you say between 2k and forgeline how much are we talking? I like the 501, make a nice second set.

It'll depend on model, size, finish, knurling, and if Terrence can hook you up, but somewhere between $3.5k and $4.5k would be average, I believe.

I went through the same process about 6 weeks ago looking into every wheel available to run a 19x11 square setup. Lots of call and research.

Criteria:

19x11 square setup
Strength as I will run these both on street/track
Caliper to barrel clearance
Weight (as close to OEM R wheels but at a reasonable price)
Knurling
Price as mentioned was important.

In the end I choose the Signature Wheel SV502, gloss black with knurling. Terrance has been great during the whole build process and surprised me with some swag in the mail as well.

While the non fully forged were strong and proven they did not have the caliper clearance or weight I was looking for. There are many threads on caliper/inner barrel scratching with limited clearance wheels. It has been known to happen on the OEM carbon wheels as well.

Coming from motorcycle racing/track days where we run lightweight wheels every half pound of rotating mass reduction makes a very noticeable difference. Same effect on 4 wheels.

I also plan on running titanium lug nuts for additional rotating weight reduction.

Hope this helps. PM if I can help answer any questions.

Mitch

Do you need spacers for these wheels?

Apex SM-10 19x11 ET52 square setup requires 25mm spacer up front.
Yeah - you'll need a 25mm spacer up front (i'd actually recommend a 30 or so).

I was running a square set up for my street wheels on my R. Had an issue with one of my CF wheels, so I swapped my BC Forged street wheels (square set up) to my track wheels. I run a 25 mm spacer up front and can rotate the wheels front to back. I have been swapping after each track day (roughly 4 x 20/30 minute sessions).

I would highly recommend getting a square set up to extend the life of the tires. That's one of my biggest (track) expenses right now.

OK, so, I am getting an R. Why wouldn't you track the CF wheels and get replacements for the street?

Wheels are consumable and CF wheels are INSANELY expensive. Break one and you're out $3-4K.

Depending on how much you track, you might also go through a lot of tires. Tire changes on a CF wheel can be a hassle (some places won't touch them, many scratch/chip them).
