After hearing about the tranny temp issues it may be good to wait for announcements on 2017 models. Ford may offer option for tech and track pkgs.

As for us with tech pack cars I hold out hope the duct to send air into the tranny tunnel will be effective along with shielding the exhaust from the tranny. If that fails the aftermarket will come to the rescue I'm sure since 40% or more 350's are sold as tech packs.

Has anyone with a Tech pack actually verified whether the Track Pack tranny cooler can simply be bolted on?

I know there is speculation on this, but I'd like to hear it from someone with the facts.

Read this post for details directly from Ford Performance. It is not a bolt-on part.

There is a completely different part number for the entire transmission assembly for the tech and track/R cars.

Tech cars - $3812.00 without coolers - part # FR3Z-7003-E
Track/R cars - $4141.00 with coolers - part # FR3Z-7003-D

Don't know if this is any help, but it appears that the cooler is not just an add on part; rather a part of the transmission specifically designed for this model. JMO

Of course a transmission with a cooler is going to be a different part number. Adding the cooler means the BOM is different. Doesn't mean that the transmission itself is different.

I decided that I want the track package. I came across a nice local one but it has the tech package so I will pass. Track is definitely harder to find. The hunt goes on.

The transmission in the tech cars does not have the pump or external fittings.

The tech car's trans more than likely, based on what FP has to say, will be difficult to add the cooler's pump to.

It has an integral pump, so indeed different. Tech pack owners can likely use the same air to liquid cooler, but will need to figure out a remote pump (likely a 12V unit)

I initially did not think I would track this car. It was going to be a garage queen. After a few spirited mountain drives I have realized what this car is capable of and would like to do a few track events. Who knows it may be something I will do regularly. I have a tendency to baby my cars but this one is different. I will baby it but drive it too.
Long story short, you may think track days are not in your future. I did not. My intent for this car has changed after only 700 miles. I will admit I was torn between tech and track for a while but took my chances on the Recaros being comfortable and they are. After reading the tranny temp issues I'm glad I have the coolers too.

After thinking about it for a time, I think the key is this:

Are you a good enough driver that even if the car pulls some power for your last few laps that it will significantly drop your lap times? If so, you might need the track pack.

I doubt I am a good enough driver to even come close to the power change making a huge lap time difference. Although it would suck to lose some power, all in all for 5 mins of a time session it probably won't matter for ME.

The daily driver comforts of the tech pack, I will use every day. And retrofitting Sync sounds like a pain in the A, as well as getting heated/cooled seats installed. Aftermarket coolers are bound to show up at some point too, right?

I'm so happy I got the Track Pack, especially after hearing comments about losing power on the track. I've had the car for about a week now, and one of the first comments I made to a friend is that this car is dangerous. It begs to be driven hard, which results in speeds way above the legal limit. I fear I'll end up losing my license if I don't track my GT350. The sound system issue is minor for me. I'd like to have the features of Sync 3, but listening to the engine in Sport mode more than makes up for the less than stellar sound system.

This is my story. I went with the Track Pack expecting to go maybe once or twice a year, but to really enjoy what this car has to offer I will be looking at every track event I can manage.

That like saying by putting in a flatplane crank, doesn't make the engine different. The transmission IS different. The Track transmission is specifically designed for "TRACK" use and is constructed with probably more other parts to accommodate that cooler. It is an integral part of that transmission and is not an "add-on".
