Would have been nice, but I was in the Viet Nam war at the time. Had to sell my 66 Shelby before I went in. Funny thing, everyone at the time was into big muscle cars and the road handling Shelby with a 289, just didn't cut it with a lot of people back then. Had a hard time selling it.
I may be one of the few people here that owned a 1966 Shelby GT350 and now a 2016 Shelby GT350. The original car was terrible to drive in the City (San Francisco). The clutch was so stiff, you had to put the car in neutral at stop lights just to give your leg a rest. Girls hated the car...
When you are in the market to buy a car and there are 5-10 models at one dealership and perhaps the same number at a dealer 10 miles away, you have a choice. In November of 2015, there were 3 GT350s in the greater San Francisco area, stretching from Sacramento to San Jose. 3!!!
Yes, people...
Car and Drive was quoting what Ford told them.
We did not have a choice, the dealers did not have a choice, we/dealers got what Ford sent them in 2015.
To answer your point, yes Ford did combine the packages in model year 2017, not only to get more money, but also to "acknowledge" that they...
I guess everyone has an opinion on this so here is mine. I purchased my 2016 GT350 TECH in November of 2015. It was a very early production car (#0111). I wanted to get the car and had no preference whether it was a track or tech equipped car. It was also the only car available in the SF Bay...
"Bid goes on" @ Mecum Kansas City last month for a 2015 GT350 Track with 75 miles, high bid was $74K!! After reading all the previous posts here, and "investors" paying twice sticker, I question whether those purchases were a good investment. On the other hand, 2016 Gt350Rs were selling over...
If I can insert a simple question here - are "Canadian" GT350s fitted with the 50-state emissions equipment. Do they pass US emission standards? If not, how do they license them here in the states?
No one mentioned the 1965 Shelby GT350 that sold for $405,000!! Other than a few other cars, this auction was no where near some of their past years. Where there any original Cobras?? I didn't watch every day, but I just don't think better cars were at this auction.
Doesn't matter when they were built, they are all 2016 models. Whether they were pre-production or not, all Ford did was put a 2015 VIN on the first group of 137(?).
I have seen quite of few topics regarding problems/issues with the GT350 on these boards -
Oil Filter Leaks
Gap Issues
Paint Issues
Engine Replacement
Engine Rattle
No oil pressure
Steering Wheel Vibration
Steering Wheel Play
A/C problems
and of course, the great cooler debate.
KNOCK ON...
I was kind of shocked to see what these cars sold for; especially the '16 R @ $72K. But the '15s selling under $90k or not sold at all? Is this due to whether the GT350 continues production past the '17 model year?
You assume a car that is driven heavily on a track vs a car that is only driven on the streets, is still in "excellent" condition. I doubt that "most" people, who can afford these cars, would pick a used car that has extensive use on a race track vs one that has only been street driven, for...
I noticed that KBB.com has increased the value of the GT350 "Tech" cars, perhaps higher than the GT350 "Track" packaged cars. Checking all the correct boxes in the options category, a 1500 mile, 2016 GT350 Tech car was valued at $60,200; where a Track car was valued at $59,800 (sale to a...
I am very happy with my car. Never thought for a minute that Ford would do something about the "cooler issue". The car drives very nicely as a daily driver and does what I want it to do on "spirited driving" roads. I would never take my car to the track, since my insurance would not cover...
If I had an opportunity to talk with a FP engineer, my one and only question would be:
"Why does the tech package add better shocks, springs, and drive modes, if the car cannot talk advantage of those improvements on a track. The track package adds the exact same chassis improvements (the...
