Exactly - I can't imagine spending over 7 grand for an average stereo. You audiophiles won't be happy.
With the exception of the coolers, the track has no performance gains over the tech, since both are equipped with the same components. Each package offers a "different" driving experience. Personally, I like the Track seats; but for everyday driving, heated/cooled, power adjustable leather seats are hard to beat. I glad I got the Tech, and so much more important, so is my wife.

Agreed - just get what you want - these threads asking people to choose for them are asinine.
I'm not asking someone to choose for me, I'm looking for first hand experience from owners of the car and input on the differences and any regrets. A few days ago I had no clue on what the GT350 was about. Before I wrote this, I did not know there was a difference between the seats. I assumed the track seats were cloth and the tech seats were the same but in leather.

Great write up. The reason for my post was because I found a used GT350 (less than a 1000 miles) with the tech local to me that I can get at MSRP or less. I really want the track but after reading your post you opened my eyes as to; do I really need it for the application I intend to use the car. Besides, If I find myself wanting to track more I can trade this one is with out taking too big of a hit because the few dealers near me that can get a GT350 are nuts and asking $20K plus over MSRP and trade it in for the R next year.
Just a couple of observations and comments based on your post.

It sounds like to me that you have decided to go with a Tech Pack equipped car and this sounds like a wise decision based on your most recent post and feedback.

Having said that does the color and stripe combination not enter into your decision making?

If this used GT350 (Tech Pack) is exactly the color and stripe combination that you and your family like then I suggest you go make your best deal but certainly less than MSRP would be my choice and I would certainly not pay MSRP on a used GT350 no matter what miles is has on it or who owned it. It is still a used car.

Unless you are in a big rush to purchase a GT350 I suggest that you take your time and order the car in exactly the color combination that you want.

With 8 colors and different stripe/roof combinations I had more difficulty deciding on this issue than whether I wanted a Track or Tech pack car but maybe that's just me.

There are MSRP deals out there or at least ones very close to MSRP and suggest that you give that some consideration. I have helped numerous members on here and suggest other members would do the same for you going forward but obviously no guarantees.

Lastly, as Bossing stated very well earlier, maybe get your family involved in the process of specing out your new GT350 and if you do I suggest that your new ride will take this experience to a whole new level. It really is a lot of fun involving family members during this process and makes this process a lot more memorable for all involved.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the very sound advice. I called all the local Ford dealers where I live (Long Island NY) and even a few in the tri-state area. The ones that are getting cars in are looking for a bidding war for the car. Some even saying you can have it now for $25K over MSRP. My ass may be dumb, but I'm no dumb ass. I have and still do own some nice exotics. The used car I mentioned that is available to me is not my first choice. I would love to spec a GT350 out to my liking as far as color, and options go, but I have hit a wall. If you can help me with ordering one I would be very grateful.

Good to hear that you would like to spec out a GT350 to your liking but patience is certainly difficult to come by as time goes on. We are all the same.

Obviously the region that you live in is not condusive for making an MSRP deal based on your feedback and also certainly based on supply and demand for the NYC area.

;)

firefisher Are you in a rush? If not PM me... I may have a scoop on a forthcoming allocation for a 2017 model you can build/order. You get first dibs on it. ;)

As hard as it is to wait, find what you want, you will be happier in the end.
As summer draws closer the desire to have this car will be stronger.
Buying the car spec'ed different than you truly want will be a regret.

I too am torn. I know of a magnetic w/ black stripes track package for msrp. I will never track the car (only because there are none around me). I would like the recaros, and don't need nav. From prior experience, it's all the electronics they pack into these cars that give you headaches down the road, and the tech. Pack has a lot. I have until today to decide. If I pass it up, I will post w/ a pm request.

Sounds like you'd be better off with the base. And I agree with electronics. Every vehicle I've had with "auto climate cont." has malfunctioned at some point, going full hot when 60F is commanded, etc, requiring resets or replacement of expensive components. Sync 3 would be nice though at times, but not enough I would give up the other stuff.

Of course it's all about personal preference. Mine is a weekender. I chose Track b/c the electronics are not great in any Mustang even in "Shaker" trim. My 9 year old Tundra has a better sound system. I find myself killing the volume and listening to the car 90% of time. Even if you are not tracking this car the Recaros are very nice unless you are XXL. I am 6' 190lbs and they are comfy. The rear spoiler is the best of the choices imo.
I also believe LONG term a track pack will resale quicker than a tech.
If you were looking for a classic 350 today would you give a crap what type of stereo was included? I probably would have even ordered a base car before a tech car. Just my .02

As the value of my Boss approaches $30K I think that purchasing almost any new car with resale value and collectability in mind is a fantasy. I had to have Magneride so the choice was between Tech and Track. My main sticking point was the seats. I love my Boss Recaros but after driving two '16 GT's and two Ecoboosts I decided the base seats are a reasonable tradeoff to get equipment that I would use and enjoy every day as opposed to an econo center stack and coolers I wouldn't ever need.
