There are probably several folks like myself who have (or want to order) new wheels, but don't want the wheels until they can get TPMS sensors for them.

Figured I'd post what I think I know & perhaps others can chime in as lead times & etc change.

1. There are two TPMS options, vendor can tell you which you need.

2. For my vehicle (GT PP base) the TPMS's are supposed to be available somewhere around April, but there is no definite promised date.

I believe many have had success using the 11-14 sensors

That is one of the places where confusion reigns for me.

Some folks can use the 11-14's, but apparently some folks can't, I'm not sure how you determine which group you car fits in to.

Yeah that's my issue. Was going to buy rims yesterday, but no one had the TPMS sensors in stock. Kind of sucks.

I've had winter tires with no TPMS on since the middle of December. You hit the "OK" button on startup to get rid of the TPMS warning, and you go about your day.

I, like Jimmy, have had no sensors on my winter wheels since middle of december. However, unlike Jimmy, the TPMS warning has only popped up on me about 3 times.

The first time being about 20 minutes after the wheels were put on. I had initially figured it had just learned that the sensors weren't there and popped up a 'reminder' every now and then. But after reading about Jimmy's popping up every time he starts the car, I wonder if something is up with my system. Will see what happens when the factory wheels go on in the spring.

I also am without sensors on my winter setup. It seems that in the morning when I start the car, it picks up the sensors from my stock wheels in the garage or maybe reading the sensors from my wife's car (Honda Pilot) parked next to it? But after about 20 minutes of driving I get the warning again. I can't wait to get new sensors though! It's getting extremely annoying.

I'd be surprised if it is picking up sensors for the other tires. Does it pop up immediately on the return trip? i.e. when you leave work?

Not immediately upon startup when leaving work. It seems to take longer than 20 min for it to recognize that there are no sensors. My commute is only about 15 minutes so it doesn't seem to happen that often if only going to and from work.

When I swapped my Velgens with sensors from my 13 to my 15 when I bought it, The sensors worked right away. The screen shows the actual pressure in the tires as well. I doubled check this to verify.

I would not be hesitant to get the ones for the 13/14 Mustangs .

at the moment the S550 tpms are back ordered till end of April ( informed once again from my local guy at the local dealership)

However all the setups I have done I have provided the 14 sensors and they have worked great no issues and all the members I have taken care of are all happy.

1A189 (TPMS-35) North American Markets; Frequency - 902 MHZ, Frequency - 315MHZ $18.95
1A189 (TPMS-36) North American Markets; Frequency - 433MHZ, Frequency - 868 MHZ $20.73

Bandwidth
1. 587MHZ Wider than 2 by 152MHZ
2. 437MHZ

My supposition is the extra cost covers the wider bandwidth, and the wider one could be used by other vehicles.

2014 Mustang:
1A189 (TPMS-12) Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Base GT; Frequency - 315MHZ, (-)"Japan"
1A189 (TPMS-29) Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Base GT; Frequency - 433MHZ, (-)"Japan"
1A189 (TPMS-30) Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Shelby Version; (-)"GCC" Gulf Cooperative Countries

I am unsure as to the Japan/GCC are for, there are no North American TPMS part numbers shown. By looking at the frequency start, they should work with the 2015 TPMS system.

This does not show how many bits or the width of bits are being sent though. 2014 could be 8 or 16 and the 2015 could be 16/32.

I still feel ignorant, but at a much higher level :).

Thank you!

I wonder if "other vehicles" might be some of the 2015 mustangs.
