Hoping for some help. I purchased what I thought was a ZL1 Addons tow hook for the Shelby through ebay. It was listed for the Shelby. Knowing it was coming today through UPS I decided to start taking everything apart so I would be set when it arrived. Well it arrived and the tow hook was for a 2014 Corvette. I contacted ZL1 and they said they are out of stock for probably 3 weeks. Seeing if anyone had one they would be willing to sell. Car is up on the lift disassembled. Thanks

That sucks, good luck. When I was waiting for my titanium one to come in I was told 3 weeks...took about a month and a half till it was avail again though.

At least it's not too much work to get it back together, but still a pita waste of time.

The good news is, it goes back together much faster, and the second time you take it apart goes faster than the first.

Wow, what a bummer!

Don't know if you removed the bumper cover, but I installed mine without removing it. Don't know if this helps, but at least you have options. There are a couple tedious aspects to doing it without removing the bumper cover, but it's the way I'd do it again if I needed to due to not wanting to mess with broken tabs or body panel alignment in general.

Didn't remove the bumper. Did like you said just removed the splitter and belly pan. Everything was going smooth until ups arrived and the guy sold me the tow hook for a corvette. Now I'm stuck.

Are you getting a refund from the seller for selling the incorrect part?

Yes but downfall is I have to pay to ship it back to him. His excuse was it is a universal tow hook, even though his listing header said specifically it was meant for the Shelby gt350 and gt350r. My lesson is don't take the car apart till you have the part in hand.

Nuts.

Feel free to PM me before you get started if you want to discuss the logistics I had to figure out with the bumper still mounted.

That's BS. You're not going to lose anything except some time. Contact eBay, tell them what happened and they will contact the seller on your behalf. You will not have to pay return shipping if the listing was as you say.

Ended up getting one from a Shelby owner not far away. It is now mounted and set but I have one question. Does anyone happen to know the torque spec for the nuts that mount the bracket to the crash bar studs. The bolts were not tight originally when the radiator support bar was in place. Just curious because I would hate to pull the stud if overtightened. Let me know.

Thanks...

Yea as Bikeman315 noted, you do have recourse.

File a complaint with eBay and send an image of the auction listing and a pic of what was received (and how it does not work). The Seller is putting up a fraudulent listing if he's advertising the tow hook to be compatible with XYZ vehicle and it's not.

If you paid by PayPal you can also file a claim through them too OR you can contact your Credit Card directly and file a claim to getting a refund for full purchase amount.
