Do you guys think my car is going to be totaled I just got rear ended at a stop sign pretty hard 🤦🏾‍♂️ bumper needs to be replaced trunk might need to be replaced and seems like there’s some slight frame damage in the back where the crash support is hopefully she won’t be totaled it’s a 2016 mustang GT premium package. I know none of you are probably insurance inspectors but I would like to get an idea of where the car stands before going through everything.. I’ll attach some pics below what do you guys think ?

not a chance. thats just a bumper cover, trunk lid, you have a bumper plate under that bumper cover it will be replaced, it does the job by being crushed in. nothing looks to be of a total value, today car prices cost more, insurances are paying more to fix them as well.

you're good.

I dont see your frame being tweaked by that minor impact imo. but ive also seen cars have a bent frame by a light tap, but I dont think this is the case here imo.

this is just my opinion. prob a 2-3k repair. This is simply replacing parts and painting the bumper, quarters and trunk blending.

- edit.

ok I didnt see that last photo, I dont know if they can pull that back out (not the bumper plate) but the actual quarter/bumper section thats pushed in. but I would imagine they could fix that. your car is a GT which cost more than Ecoboost, which means they will spend more to get it right to avoid paying you out fully.

I'm thinking 10K + repair.

If any surface distortions in the quarter panels or C pillar it's a gonner. All AHSS can't be bent back with out losing 50 % of strength. Floor pan that's bent in may be the same check it out and insist on a compete replacement to maintain integrity for the next rear ender.
Didn’t know about the material losing 50% strength after pulling. Crazy. Had a mustang ecoboost that was rear ended, I let it go, paid out, someone bought it and fixed it up. Too much work for me. Body shop quoted me 7k in work

I was rear ended this past summer, not as much bent sheet metal but both tail lights bumper and the black beauty panel along with some supporting bits had to be replaced and the repair was over $5k.
I don't think yours is totaled but wouldn't be surprised to see the repair in the $10k-$12k range.
Curious if the air bag deployed in the car that hit you? The '20 Camero that hit me did not deploy her air bags.

No Air bags. The car that hit me barely had any visible damage

Looks worse than my back end does and my insurance quote was $4,600.

Not that its ever a good time to get rear ended, but with used car prices what they are lately, you might sustain as much as 15k to 18k damage and avoid a total loss. I was told by GEICO they'll allow up to 80% of cash value as damage before declaring it a total loss.

Anyway if any AHSS or UHSS bent the entire panel must be removed at factory seams ( no splicing) and replaced with Ford spec parts, adhesion/ welding procedures or the structural integrity is gone. Even a slight quarter panel or C pillar bend must be replaced.
Find a shop that specialists in mustangs, don't go with the national chain the insurance co sends you to for an appraisal.

When my car got sideswiped in a parking lot the insurance co sent me to Caliber collision(sp) I checked them out on the BBB and they had over 200 complaints in the last year.

I took it to a independent body shop that had 10 mustangs on the lot. BBB said ZERO complaints in 20 years. Still 0 complaints.

Agreed 80% is crazy or the Geico Rep is off kilter...

In most States, the car has to have damage that is at least 71%-75% of ACV...

The OP's damages won't even come close to being totaled out.

I hit a girl awhile back, 2015 Sonic. Geico decided to repair it. 7000 dollars

the car is worth like 7k

so basically repairs the total cost of the car!

So you block traffic on the freeway and run into people, where? in parking lots? Then you state you pay 20 per month for insurance. Is that liability only? My uninsured motorist is more than 20 per month. Zero traffic infractions for 20 years.

You also say you never street race but do attend street races........

I plowed her, fully doing speed limit. Chic didn’t feel like waiting in line, 5 people waiting to go left. She goes into right turn lane. Pops her nose out and floors it to go left and here I come and smashed her, rightfully so.

lol. She had her girl get out and gave a statement saying shesaw her in the left lane etc, all kinds of lying.fortunately my 5 witnesses who was actually in the left lane said no. We watched her get out she wasn’t alone in car etc.

im currently suing her. Already maxed out her policy with their offers. Gonna be awhile. Whatever though. Do stupid things get rewarded stupid prizes. I’m running with it.

I carry uninsured, under insured, liability, medpay, etc.

i couldn’t care less about comprehensive as I will just buy a new car if I get hit out of pocket. Bring so slow and careful, me being at fault is almost null.

she also falsified stuff to officer, didn’t help her case at all.

Heck no I don’t street race, I wouldn’t risk my career field for tickets etc. but I don’t care about watching idiots smash into each others cars lol that’s entertaining as long as I’m not involved

I’m just an innocent bystander. Can’t cite me for anything, well unless I’m in Cali where I guess they actually are citing spectators of stuff.

I use usaa insurance, but I also have bundles, like mortgage, car property, etc I think they discount eachother out.

my car is 2012 Scion tC though, 10 years old. Rates are cheap for it now
