You can't go wrong with either the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or the Continental ExtremeContact 02.

It depends on if you want the best high performance tire available or those that are good but not considered the best.

Which model Continentals cause were noisy for you? I don't hear any noise from the ExtremeSport 02.

Indy 500s are tolerable on my tuned GTI. My 5.0 uses Michelin PSS due to sizing issues.

My experience with Continentals is that they are noisy!!

Contiprocontacts in 205/55/16
Extreme Contact DWS06 in 225/40/18

The smaller wheel on a VW Jetta, larger on a GTI/Mazda 3.

Both cars are admittedly (obviously) different than Mustangs but those tires RUMBLE lol.

I was thinking you were more likely running the all seasons vs the performance Conti. I had the DWS06 on a couple of cars and have to agree they were a little louder.

Absolutely, my experience isn’t going to match most on the forum. I’ve used all season conti’s on econoboxes for the most part.

Tire noise on a 5.0 is really a non-issue. Once you pull the resonators you can’t tell the difference :cwl:

My street tires are Conti's Extremecontacts and love them. They handled the Tail of the Dragon just fine and give a nice road trip comfort too.

Conti ECS 02 if budget is an issue. Michelins look “wider” and have rim guards on the sidewall to help against gutter rash. Conti’s come from abroad so expect the manufacture date to be about a year old when you get them. Otherwise similar performance.
The Good Year Ultra Grip Performance Plus I bought last Sept were made in Germany (plant now closed due to high energy and petchem costs). All their German plants are closed or closing.

They were only 3 mths old.

All the Legacy Tier 1 tier 1 brands are relocating plants now never know where they are coming from.

The Michelin tires are great but dang, are they expensive. As someone who uses their Bullitt as a daily driver, never races/tracks the car, I'll look elsewhere when it comes time to replace.

I've read lots of good stuff about the Contis so they remain on my replacement possibility list. I've had the Firestone 500s on my former '09 GT500. Cool looking tire, solid performance, great prices, but after the 10k mark, they made so much noise it was unbearable.

I'm gonna give these Generals a try when it comes time. I've had excellent experiences w/the General tires I've purchased for my other cars. They've got solid reviews, are nicely priced and for my purposes, I think they'll be ok. General is a subsidiary of Michelin.

I have a PP2 that had Sport Cup 2's that just needed to go away. I went to Tony's front end and brake and gave them the tire size with either the Michelin PS4's or the Continental ECS 02, and an estimate on cost with alignment. The salesman said they were both good tires, and after checking he said he could have the Contis in a couple of days but couldn't get the Michelin's. He also said the Continentals were less expensive.
After getting the Continentals and a front end alignment it was like getting a new car. Gone was the rough ride, and tram lining, and the handling felt the same.
The Michelin's might be better, but I'm very happy with my Continentals.

Another vote for ECS02 here. Bought mine in 285/35/19 and 295/35/19. Good ride, a little loud on the highway, excellent dry and wet grip especially as the temps warm up.

I've run the Conti EC DWS 06 on both my previous '05 GT and my current '19 Bullitt since I drive all year in NJ with my cars except for heavy snow. They handle great in the snow for at least a year or two before it wears past that traction rating. Rain traction has lasted about 20-22k miles.
Just needing to replace them soon after about 25k miles as even in the dry there is loss of traction now.

The conti dws 06+ are great tire. Is what I’m running now. I swapped the summer tires with 6k on them for these. These are better in every condition and type of driving. They are louder only over joints in the road. Other than that I can’t tell a difference. But the grip is phenomenal

After I put about 7k miles on my Bullitt, I pulled off the summer tires and put on some Michelin Pilot Sport All Season tires. I know you don't have the same amount of grip that the summer tires do, but for 90% solution it works great. I can drive the car year-round and enjoy it!

I personally have not gotten the ECS Exreme summer tires, but the DWS 06 all season's are amazing. I have friends with the ECS summer tires and they love them, for the money they are comparable to the Michelin. No experience with the Indy's. I do say, whatever you do, stay away from the NItto 555 G2's. I am about 1/2 wore out on mine and got caught in a thunderstorm yesterday. I literally had to pull over and wait it out, I could get no traction whatsoever, was sliding terribly...
Nitto’s are garbage, and are outright dangerous in the rain.

+1 for the Indy 500's. Pretty hard to beat for the price
