OP, did you ask for a Premium V6 by chance? Ask for something with Navigation? Did you request leather seats?

Sometimes I think a salesperson can get somewhat jealous of a buyiers financial position and will try to put limits on one . It's been my experience that most sales persons haven't been at the dealership long term or even selling cars.

I know there's not a love for the v6 but for someone looking at the convertible without plans to mod it and doesn't want the V8 its a great package. It's also suited for a long term owner the engine will probably go over 200,000 miles
Ha! I'd like to ask you what you assume the financial position is of the sales person?

I'd go out on a limb and say it's likely much higher than you think, if you think they'd be jealous of a buyer's financial decision.

A half way decent car salesman will make more money than a lot of Software Engineers.

I had a V6 mustang and I thought it was a very fun car. Find a sales person who you like, or just ignore them. Typically the sales people don't know much about cars anyway. They just can't find a better job.

What is it that you do for a living that is so prestigious?

I manage projects up to million five. In the selection of vendors asking key questions with small talk and body language gives a lot of in site. I avoid contractors going m.i.a in the middle of a project.
Along with getting the Mustang I was also looking to replace the wife's 4motion Tig. Between the two we canvassed at least 8 dealer who's sells persons had held the position for less than a year. They we're not very versed in the models that they were representing and didn't appear to be very well educated either. While I would agree that the sales manager and financial persons probably make a decent wage the person asking if you like the color during the test drive and who has to run to the office with your offer to get the OK is not that high on the food chain. Now if were talking about a line more up scaled than Ford or high volume dealer that isn't over saturated with salespersons that may be a different story.

I think to a certain degree you can't expect sales people to know everything about all of the cars they sell. I was looking at an ecoboost with my dad last weekend and the salesman said it was front wheel drive. To me that's just completely ignorant. There's a line and he crossed it.

Needless to say we left after that.

Car sales people will be just like anyone in any job. You have those that are great, knowledgeable and courteous. And those that are total hacks. I was looking at GTIs a few years ago and the guy said it had a 5 cylinder turbo. Cool car but didnt care about what he had to say after that.

Glad I went with the stang :D

All I asked if he had a v6 with the 051a package which has the 3.55 gears and nice Bullitt type wheels lol

Funny, 2006ser, That's almost the exact car I was looking at before I got mine. I was coming from a 2007 Focus ST so it was a very nice upgrade. None of the V8's in my past had 300hp so it is a nice upgrade.

Cool story bro...

I can hardly follow your story as it's so full of run-ons and lack of punctuation. Ironic to be talking about someone else's perceived education levels. Great attempt at using "big" words.

A decent Salesperson makes 6 figures. A decent Sales Manager will make between $15-20k monthly. A Finance Manager will make around $25-30k monthly.

Sadly, your $1.5M projects don't have squat to do with your knowledge of someone else's income levels.

You come across as pompous and someone who speaks highly of themselves, and down on others.

Does this site have an ignore feature?

In which case, there should have been no reason to suggest the EcoBoost, especially since you would have seemed to be knowledgeable about the options and vehicle.

The only reasonable explanation would be if they didn't have any V6 models, but you had cleared that up.

Sounds like you got a bad seed.

Just like everywhere, there are great employees, and shitty ones. Moving on was the right choice.

I suggest going right to a Sales Manager, letting them know what you want, and having them set you up with the appropriate Salesperson to work with you. It's always worked for me.

I would have just been a little more accertive and told him to go fetch me the car I want to drive and keep his opinions to himself!

The v6 is a great buy. Ordered mine in '14 and haven't looked back.

Did I say I had a prestigious job? Nope. Why are you asking? Is being a car salesman your dream job?

Honestly from someone who has owned the 3.7 it does suck. I mean its a great V6, but its still a V6 and the upgrade potential sucks. With the EB you can get some pretty sick numbers with an upgraded turbo and parts.

Or just get a GT if you can afford it.
lol really? Upgrade potential sucks? It has a stroker, cams, ported heads and intake, procharger, headers, turbo kits.... hell even a set of Jenvey ITBs
