This GT500KR needs help

The new and the original GT500KR are both out of my (sane) price range even if I wanted to buy one. But the '08/09 KR is another matter. With an MSRP of $82K (with fees etc) and ADMs of $15-20K, it cost a buyer about $100K to own a KR. Almost immediately, when the '10 GT500, which was effectively an '08/09 KR copy, hit the market, the KRs value got ripped by 60% or more. Is this a Ford marketing tactic...hype the scarcity in today's market to build the demand for tomorrow's market?

Anyhow, the '08/09 KR is within my price range at $40-50K and there is the odd nice one out there every once in awhile. Will the new GT500KR help or hinder its predecessor's price after being in the doldrums for more than 10 years?

Hi. I still own my 2009 KR. Tom has seen it an can confirm it is a beautiful specimen of a Shelby KR.
I don't drive it much as I prefer the 2020 GT500 as this is more than a generation in advancement.
The independent rear is such an improvement in handling and the DCT is just out of this world.
You are not comparing apples with apples cost, handling and performance.
If you can manage an S550 go for it. You won't regret it.

It may make a bit of a difference in the value of the car, but I can't imagine it will be that big of a difference. The two cars are pretty different with the 08-09 GT500KR being the last pre-title Shelby cars being made and the 08 being the 40th Anniversary of the GT500KR. The 20-22 GT500KR's are post-title cars and even then, the value is going to depend on the options of the GT500 being used. Obviously, the most valuable of the newer KR's are going to be the HE CFTP POTS GT500KR's because of the options that the car has and it is a 60th Anniversary car.

The 2010 GT500 was only mechanically similar to the KR with some differences, but that was about it. At the end of the day, the GT500KR is still worth more money than a 2010 GT500 given similar miles and condition. I mean, the 08-09 KR's are still far more valuable than the 08-09 Bullitt. Even then, being able to find a Vista Blue or Colorado Red GT500KR in good condition seems to have a higher value than the Vapor Silver and Ebony cars due to their lower production numbers. At the end of the day, I think the GT500KR is going to be more valuable than your Bullitt will be down the line, either 08-09 or the 20-22 GT500KR's.

When I was looking into buying one, I was always on the lookout for the Vista Blue, but they are hard to come by as you know.

Thanks for the great comments. I realize that my '19 Bullitt will be depreciating and will most likely follow the same decline as the prior editions. And, the KRs market price has been at the bottom for about 10 years now and appears to starting to make a comeback (or is that just the nature of the overall market for the past 2 years?). Without a doubt the car to own is a '20-'22 GT500 - CFTP preferred.

You don’t need CFTP. Any ‘20-‘22 GT500 is an amazing performance car. Breathtaking.
