Mike at Shelby was very nice and got me some finished pictures while it’s waiting in the warehouse. I’m flying to Vegas tomorrow (Thursday) first thing to take delivery. Then a 4 hour drive back to SoCal.

Well I got her home. PPF in a few weeks, and I need to install my carbon splitter wickers, as well as my BTI wing uprights and a new start button.

I was surprised how much farther the front splitter sticks out compared to the stock one. It doesn’t look like that much, but get up close and you see it complete covers the outer edges of the splitter wickers, which the stock one doesn’t do. The KR rear diffuser also looks badass.

Here are a few pics of her in front of the factory, as well as someone’s Heritage Signature Edition that they were picking up right after me.

Dave, very nice all around. Random questions: did they share the stripe painting process? Do you know if they removed the front and rear windshields to get the paint down in there? Are the rocker stripes painted as well, or decals? They sent you packing with all the original parts or are they shipping them to you?

It looks really low in the front... new springs or is it that splitter an optical illusion?

You have a really special car. Hope that ride back to OC was fun.

To be fair, I didn't ask much about how the stripe painting process goes. I do know from the pictures I've seen, and looking through the shop window myself that they do take the car apart to a greater degree than I expected. Having said that, my car was originally optioned with the black painted stripes from Ford, so the only over the top stripes they had to paint for me were the ones on the new carbon fiber hood. I'm sure that meant they took my car less apart than others.

The rocker stripes are painted as well. You actually have (maybe had at this point), 3 stripe options from Shelby: vinyl stripes (similar to the factory ones, but look much nicer), painted stripes (there will be a subtle edge between the base color of the car and the stripe paint), and painted buried stripes (no subtle edge). I chose the painted buried stripes and they look and feel amazing. I think I remember my sales guy saying awhile back those may not be an option you can order anymore, something about simplifying their production processes. I also don't think they mix stripe types. You choose one option and all stripes that go on the car end up being the same type.

With regards to the parts, Shelby keeps most of the takeoff parts. They definitely sell some, and trash the stuff they can't/aren't allowed to resell. I was able to keep my carbon fiber wheels that came with the car originally; they just ground shipped those to me. I also had them install the carbon fiber deck lid for the trunk, so they left the original one in the car for me. But for the most part they keep the take off parts.

It's MUCH lower in the front, definitely not an optical illusion. You can definitely see it in the picture of the front wheel. The KR package came with new ride hight adjustable front and rear springs. I'm 99.9% sure this is what they're using.... https://msssuspensionshop.co.uk/mss...system-shelby-gt350-gt500-coupe-v8-magneride/

The car is very special; I'm very blessed to be in a position to be able to have one. The ride back was great. Traffic on I-15 was terrible today though, I couldn't get it over 85 😆 .

Nice. Thanks for the reply. I didn't realize you already had painted stripes. Only a 4 month turn around. Not bad. I've seen some waiting much longer.

Not bad at all. The fact I didn't do wide body made a huge difference. I looked at the shop floor this morning when I was there and there was a car 20 numbers earlier than mine still sitting there waiting for wide body paint.

I was told with mine that the only option is buried stripes now. This was good news as that is the best option imo.

This is great news! It's definitely the best option. Who's your sales guy by the way?

Mike was mine as well. Met him in person, very nice guy. If you want to rib him a little, tell him you used to own a Focus ST and you didn’t like how the manual behaved so you swapped in an automatic. He was telling me all about the one he used to own when I was there and how much he loved the manual on it; and the car itself for that matter.
