get into the autocross scene? sounds pretty fast and furious to me. you want to go legit?

if you want to go racing, it's a little more than just getting into a scene.
Lol. Your so cute? Do you like long walks on the beach? Ive been involved in autox out in Seattle before. Just right now i dont have time to go to events. But i bet you already knew that magic man.

Well thats cool you have done that. What vehicles? And HP tuners or something else to tune with? Not a bad hobby to have. While not cleaning windows lol i like to dabble in underwater basket weaving! Ok sorry that was more for my friend Boson. Seriously though hope to get into the auto-x scene more once my real job and life gives me that time.

From a hobby stand point for these cars hp tuners is great. But I've also used open source tuning, ls1edit, and efi live. They all are great software for specific purposes. But they don't change basic principals of Tuning that have been there since men first thought how can I modify this to improve it while looking at an internal combustion engine.

Camaros, corvettes, Silverados gas and diesel, wrx/stis, mustang. All cars I have owned or a friend wanted help tuning. I'm probably missing some. Basically if a friend owned a car that was supported I hounded them until they let me test it out on their car. No ones engine has blown up and everyone thought the car felt better. I want to get into fuel savings tuning. It's less popular in communities such as these but still interesting to me.

Very cool. Was thinking of awd out here but thats what my truck and 4wd are for. Plus ive wanted a mustang since i was 10. And the S550 was a no brainer to just jump right in. Had a 2000 Trans Am 6spd loved that car but it was stolen. Never got a chance to do anything but exhaust and wheels.

Oh right my most recent adventure a VW jetta TDI. That whole emissions trouble they got into peaked my curiosity.

If you are curious about what I do for a living, I'm a computer repair tech. Some people call it IT. Can you count how many times you have said this computer sucks? Have you hired a computer tech just to watch them come and poke it with a stick like a cave man then tell you I don't see the problem or worst it is fixed? Just to have the same problem again after they leave? That's my job to put these scenarios to an end. I honestly don't feel I get paid well enough for how good at it I am.

My home computers have always sucked. I finally got a mac. No issues whatsoever. Just getting used to the new features and navigating. My computers at work suck. IT seems so cool. But never interested me until later in life. I was into being an all around handy man type. I may not be the best at all the things i can do but i think i do them pretty good. Now as far as my profession i can install and just about figure almost anything out with time. Im an electrician specializing in marine applications and power generation. Done land side too. I also climb high which i dont like much.

Hey that's really cool your user name jives with what you do. It shows passion that's all you really need to be good at something. Hey as far as our disagreement goes I totally understand you not being able to give me an explanation as the information you are getting is from your tuner/s. If you could do this thread a favor and show them my explanation and maybe they will be able to explain your position better and let us know. That would be some valuable input. To simplify it I want to know why positive knock is good sometimes but not all the time. My position is it is never good and you don't want it ever. Thank you.

you are so wrong.:headbonk:

lots of stock tunes have spark knock because they are not calibrated on pump gas, they use a control fuel and give the ECM ample room to add or remove spark lead based on knock and no knock. a factory tune that knocks will soon enough not knock as the ECM will pull that spark lead right out. it sounds to me like you have seen your buddy reset his knock learn and go hammer it and see some knock. that doesn't mean anything.

your posts are without substance and are highly emotional which tell all of us that you are really passionate but also tell us that you are without the necessary knowledge to have an educated discussion on the topic which leads us to disregard your posts.

by the way, have you never heard the phrase, "she ran best just before she blew?" sure you can get pump gas to knock by adding spark lead, any bonehead can do that. the trick is finding MBT (which you need to google) before you find your fuel's knock limit. what method do you use to do that?

Here, read this and don't talk to me until you have and understand it fully.

WOW that's a ton of information. I don't believe they have perfected what they describe in the PDF. It does an excellent job in saying MBT is very important. It also describes it very well. I cant say for sure that information applies to our cars yet. It could work along side the knock sensors and that would be Ideal. If they could dial it in though and use the spark plugs and the spark ionization curve to predict the flame propagation wave to be more reliable that could eliminate knock sensors. This would make me very happy. I hate knock sensors almost as much as I hate knock. Can you imagine the ramifications if other engine parts had some thing like false knock? False spark, False injector pulse, false temperature readings. Something to think about.

They are having trouble with the accuracy when prolonged ignition duration was used. So they set it up to be based all on one cylinder with short ignition duration. I wonder if something like a sub spark could be designed into the spark plug in order to reduce the gap the measured spark jumps giving it not only information about each specific cylinder but also improve the accuracy of the technique.

Op have you checked your starter bolts? I have seen some people say they are loose from the factory. I could never find the false knock on my 15 but my 16 has never had a problem. Worth checking though if you checked everything else.

That's what op did. And Lund tuned it out after saying the tune was fine. That's why I asked how the car felt. There should be no difference it is just a point on safe tuning. I was told Lund was not allowed to post in these forums and that is a shame.
Why is he not allowed? Curious

I guess he is considered a vendor and doesn't pay. As a person he probably has better thing to do.
