There is a misconception that the tick develops. It doesn’t. Every engine has it. It’s just that some are quite, and some are quite noisy.

No, not lucky. Virtually everyone on here that’s used it has had good results
But if you can't hear it is it still a tick? I kinda get what your saying, but something is up with it since there is a very large number of cars that start hearing it after an oil change.

Well gee, another tick and oil thread! Kidding, I think.:giggle:

Seriously this has been discussed to death over the past five years. As far as the tick there has never, ever, been shown a direct correlation between oil weight and the tick. You will read a thousand posts, five hundred say it might help and the other five hundred say put some Ceratec in and forget about it. Use your choice of 5W-20 or 5W-30 and some Ceratec and the tick will most likely become inaudible.
And not to mention just the last 5 years on here, but the "tick" has been present since the introduction of the Coyote in the S197....

😁

It's not "new", it's a characteristic of the Coyote's design and how the engine "click clacks" due to injection design, head element design and piston design.

If this were the 60's and forums existed, I couldn't imagine the influx of threads:
- "My 289 is making click-clack noises and it's annoying"...
- "My 428 CJ is making loud air sucking sounds when the secondaries open up, how do I stop it?"
- "My Mach 1, Boss 302 or 428 air intake protrusion through the hood is shaking, is that normal?"

😂

Yes. Like I said the randomness of the tick is what drives most owners nuts. @abmobil actully made a good point. Maybe there is a correlation between oil age and the volume of the tick. It’s just another good guess to add to the list of unknowns.

Easy solution when you get your new car just never ever do the first oil change on it and no tick!
