Definitely not what I'm experiencing. What RPMs are you noticing the difference?
I’d say under 4K as I’m usually not playing around with anything during more spirited driving. In the 2500 to 3K range there is a noticeable increase in volume going from normal to sport. I can’t really discern much difference between sport and track in that range.

When I get in and fire it up, it’s pretty much habit now to flip to sport mode with the toggle switch which also switches the AE to sport. I hold up the ESC/TC toggle switch for five+ seconds to disable ESC and TC. I drive in sport mode 99% of the time.

The only time I’m ever in track mode is at the track via the toggle switch to firm up the magneride dampers.

I rarely if ever change exhaust settings through the menus. I think my car’s been in quiet mode one time just to see what it sounded like.

Op, I have the same problem. I'm getting up in my years and don't hear as well out of my left ear so that could play a part, but I can't really tell any difference other than quiet, as you mentioned.

Maybe I should call it a 7 for normal......

I have the Steeda H-Pipe. In reality though its hard to distinguish so don't quote me! lol I am always on sport plus(loud) then switch to quiet for neighbors and cops.

Notice it most while driving, I noticed more drone in sport plus than normal mode. Try it
Is the drone due to the H-Pipe?

I don’t really notice any drone. To me, it’s just louder over stock. You can definitely hear it. Drone is annoying, like you don’t enjoy it. I think the AE with the Steeda H-pipe in sport mode is a 10/10 for my listening pleasure.

I would say just to get a better perspective on things because people are using numbers but doesn't seem like they're comparing much between before vs after. I'd say ballpark everything is about 20-30% louder roughly with my x-pipe in and I'd imagine it would be about the same with an h-pipe.

With that being said though, quiet is still silent as can be and no different between stock vs resonator delete. The only thing I will mention that I was not aware of as I never use quiet mode is that when you get close to the end of the RPM band the exhaust WILL still open up all the way and will be loud if you're driving that way in quiet mode as a heads up so it doesn't surprise you or your neighborhood.

Last note, not that it matters but I did go with the roush x-pipe. Have not experienced any sort of droning at all at any speeds.

If we are going to talk about the exhaust valves and how they behave in different modes, I suggest checking the video I already posted here:
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...ion-2021-mach-1-automatic.185799/post-3737621

In short there are two variables: the driving mode, and then possibly combination of throttle position, RPM and the engine power. E.g. Sport+ and Track should be fully open at WOT.
I did see that video. I have confirmed my valves do start in those positions.

What's interesting is that when I got home the other day and shut the car off, the valves were fully open when I looked. I had been driving in normal mode. 🤔

I’ve not seen that one before :like:

There is another one done by Borla that I have posted in the past :

If you saw the video, you may have noticed at the beginning when the guy shows the valves that they were fully open. Some people open them by disconnecting the power for the control unit. I would speculate that they are fully open (when not "powered") simply because it is safer than having them fully closed (in case the system malfunctions) and any other "safe position" might be difficult to establish by only mechanical means.

So interesting thing on the way home today...when I put the car in "my mode" and toggled between normal and sport I could hear it change on the freeway. I need to experiment further...I'm wondering if this is a driving mode thing.

I made this driving video awhile back showing all the exhaust modes.. Maybe it'll help to hear the differences.
