I'm having trouble wrapping my head around this situation. Back in mid February, I reached out to a bunch of dealerships in an attemot to order a GT350 without markup. Marin Ford said yes, we can do that. I cae in the next day, ordered it exactly to my specs, put down 5K, and was told it'll likely be delivered some time in May. Cool, or so I thought. After spending each day reaching out to Ford Performance via chat, I've continually been told the car status is "order processing". However, yesterday I got an email from my salesman saying that they actually do not have an allocation for the order and they are working with the regional Ford rep to try and work it out. So now I've been waiting and have a signed agreement, with money exchanged mind you, for a car that may never be built. In addition, the salesman said it may be a 202o GT350 instead. Pretty sure there has been no offical confirmation of a 2020 thus far (aside from the new color options for the 500 and 350 revealed recently). Any suggestions on what I should do to be able to own the car of my dreams?

Most of us had to buy out of state. If it's close enough, you can even drive it back. Most of the early adopters in high population areas didn't have the luxury of buying for MSRP, so we did what we had to do to get as close to it as possible, which usually meant MSRP + shipping charges.

Thanks...I'm willing to go out of state if necessary. I'm just so frustrated that they took my money and probably knew the whole time they would not be able to order it.

Give them time to work the rep, maybe they can get the additional unit. IMO, it sounds like someone was willing to pay more and they gave the allocation to them. They knew how many they were allocated.. so unless they make a habit of over promising and under delivering.. I think they decided to make some gross on someone else.

If I were you, I'd give them some time, and reach out to other dealerships.

The only dealership I know of around here consistently without markups is the Ford Store @ Morgan Hill, that was when I checked about 3 years ago. Unfortunately, that also means that's where people go to first.

Strange. I live in a podunk town of about 27K in the middle of nowhere and our Ford dealer has had a couple of GT350s over the past year or so. One was a special order that somebody backed out of and it sold in a couple days. They were asking MSRP.

Doesn’t sound like they’re winning to me. Sounds more like shoddy business practices.

Have the dealer call around to other dealers to get the allocation you paid for.

It’s a common practice for dealers to exchange/acquire other dealer allocations.

STRONGLY advocate for your dealer to own up to the deal they made for you- but don’t be a dick about it. You want your bridges intact.

Good luck, keep us posted.

(There’s an ‘18 Orange Fury w white stripes up by me- PM if you’re interested.)

Granted it's in KY, but about 30 miles away they have a black 350 w/Tech Pack (I think) for $56k
Edit: Sorry it's gone according to cargurus

19's are hitting lots now.. asking msrp too.

So I'd say go find one you like and get it under msrp. There are still plenty of new 18s sitting on floors so trust me you have the upper hand

Jfrish7: I believe the dealer must have an allocation before they can order your car. That said, they may have given that allocation to someone else,,,it's possible. It's capitalism! When I expressed a desire to order a 19 GT350, my dealer contacted the zone rep. and received a confirmed allocation. I ordered my car that same day, and it's been produced, but still haven't received it. Make sure the dealer has an allocation, otherwise they're just spinning you until they get one.

Having lived in the Bay area, I cant imagine it being a good place for getting a car at Sticker. Even in San Diego, where I am, I had to go out of state. Its easy, zero problems with DMV, and you WILL get a better deal with more selection. Just saying...

Good luck. These cars are phenomenal !

+1 to going out of state, I ended up doing the same. I checked with all bay area ford dealers. Ford Store in Morgan Hill seemed legit, but they only got 2x allocations for GT350Rs this year, and noted I was 3rd on the list. So its worth checking around. Last year I know the dealers in Reno were doing pretty good prices on 2018 GT350, I think towards the end of the year, some were less than MSRP. Might be worth a shot, and its not that bad of a drive to get it.

OP: If the dealer has no allocation get your money back and move on. Offering you a 2020 model is them hoping to get an allocation next year.

FWIW: I purchased my car out of state and had it courtesy delivered (fleet delivery) for $250 to a local dealer that charges ADM

Based on reports on this forum, it appears that some dealers, who are NOT in the Shelby program, are unaware that they must be, to sell one of these. Or, they know this, take your money, and hope they can get one. Shoddy business practice in either case. I would work to get your deposit back and shop elsewhere, as suggested by others above.
