I don't understand why someone would ruin/alter a set of headers to fit. That's why there are headers for a specific application. Buy ones that fit the car.
There are sometimes variances between cars and even in the headers. Small variances can mean ill-fitment especially when the engine compartment is as tight as it is on these cars. Sometimes people have to ding or dimple a primary tube to get it to clear. It is normal and happens quite often...mainly with budget headers. And that is if moving the engine around by loosening the engine mounts doesn't do the trick. The top end headers practically eliminate any fitment issues. So for the most part, ARH, Kooks, SW, and other top brands will almost always have perfect fit. TSP, OBX, and others might have more of a chance of fitment issues. But even if you have to ding or dimple them, it won't cause any performance loss. If anything it might just compromise the header and eventually lead to a leak or break or something.

l was looking at it more in terms of how they significantly altered the design of the header tubes (by denting) without affecting the torque and HP number's.
The TSP, OBX, and other less expensive headers aren't handicapped anywhere near as bad as this, and should perform similar (power wise) to the more expensive ARH, Kooks, SW headers and appear to be a good value.
What you typically get with a superior and more expensive header as mentioned are things like better fitment, weld quality, material grade used, etc. These are the attributes you would definitely require in competition situations where reliability is paramount.

I dare you to find where i said they pay for the testing in their designs. I have seen speed shops pay for that kind of testing of arh tested against others TSP being ome of them. I respect that youve made great headers (world record holders doesnt make them fast btw, it could be in some slow 9 second or slower bracket). I dont pretend to have ever made a set. What i have seen in the circles i frequented that ARH typically was king. Like i said i couldnt give a damn what headers anyone runs. I just was correcting misinformation. The real issue here is people are touchy about their cheap chinese sourced headers and other budget branded headers. Its been that way for the longest time on forums. It doesnt matter to them that i said TSP are decent budget headers. The fact of the matter is If you want the best in all regards non custom fabbed and yadda yadda, you buy ARH. This coming from a guy thats only ran one set of ARH headers in my life. The rest have all by turbo manifold types.

You would:lol:

The level of butt hurt in this thread from those that cant handle some truth is staggering. Get over it folks. Tsp is a really great deal for what you get. They get the job done well for someone that doesnt care about winning or being the fastest with their mods, just the average joe that likes to have a little fun once in awhile. I never tried to take that away. But to compare TSP to arh or kooks is sad and hilarious. My biggest reason for watching this thread was because i suggested them to a friend(before the thread was made) much like you all (on a budget, didnt care for the best, just wanted great for the price) and i was curious on the results since he doesnt care for forums. You know, because im such a brand snob.

Im unsubscribing from this thread, the mentality in here hurts my head. Have a nice weekend folks.

I agree TSP is a great value and as I stated above, I would think about purchasing them if a performance connect was available. Honestly, I have yet to see any brand headers fail over time. Even the cheep headers from the 1980's worked well for their intended purposes. Even if TSP made 1% hp less, that doesn't equate to spending 1000.00 more. My mind was set on ARH because of the quality, but following this thread has opened another option for me. 40.00 in material and the TSP could be made to have a performance connect. That might be the road I take. I could spend that 1k extra on axles, CF driveshaft.

FWIW My OBX are a 3" performance connection.

I have the same opinions about headers hence me going with Stainless Power. I picked up a set from Terry with the performance connect and got a great deal IMO, headers came with the extensions for the Oh-2 sensors. I have no regrets with my purchase. The gospel says that ARH/Kooks are superior to my Stainless Power LTHs, so what . I'm just modding a street car to be faster than it was coming from the factory - I am NOT after every single horsepower as though I am building a Super Stock or Comp Eliminator race car - would be nice, but the less $ I spend on one part leaves more $ for other mods down the road :headbang:

I am one happy mo-fo, my set-up sounds great "to me" and the butt-o-meter says I picked up h/p to the tires. I was at a car show on Saturday and loaded the ghost cam tune, gear-heads were salivating :hail:.

I've been running the Texas Speed headers for about 3 months now maybe a little more and I have gone through some tanks of flex fuel no issues and I've been running more 91 lately just because it lasts longer I'll be going back to the flex fuel soon to get the extra horsepower definitely feel a difference not sure if o2s would go bad from running flex fuel over and over or if switching back and forth between 91 and flex fuel help them last longer. I've heard of people saying o2s need to be in different location to not fail but I have also yet to see someone have failed o2s because of placement. When I looked at a pic of kooks headers the o2 isn't even that much higher. So idk if it will even be an issue.

still perfect here, no complaints other than a maddening lack of traction.
