I heard Texas Speed is taking notes submitted from installers in order to improve fitment and quality of these headers.
I emailed them today about the "issue" with the AC line. Their response was as follows....and I quote "Hello and good afternoon! Thanks for the email about the header install. You do know the bolt location is determined by the cylinder head not the header correct? If you think about it the bolt and its threads are where they are. The header only located around that bolt. There's nothing you can do to relocate a bolt hole inside the cylinder head. Hope this helps. If it helps I have yet to hear anyone complain about removing the AC to do this install."

It's true and you definitely should remove the AC line on ANY Brand header install on a S-550 there is just no room to get to the bolts when removing the stock header. The line is easy to remove and makes it easier to get to the one bolt in particular but honestly helps get to 3-4 bolts easier.

My ill reaction to the email had less to do with the AC line and more to do with the rest of the response.

This was the first time I had seen the issue with the ac line being in the way (not that it was the first) and if its a problem with all then no big deal. As someone stated earlier TSP was taking notes from installers and I wanted to see if anything had came up.

I clarified what I was asking about and they told me that they have in fact had people tell them that the ac line had to come off....right after they had never had such an issue.

Yeah the response was kinda dickish.

I've done 3 different brands of headers now, have not had to remove the ac line to do them. Everyone has different ways of doing things though.

Tempted to sell my bbk headers to get these. Haven't installed headers yet plus the xpipe I have is for s197. Need to sell both.

I've done two header installs, one being my own car. When I didn't remove the a/c line, I ended up breaking it. When I did the install for Danielle, I removed the line so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Simple as that, has nothing to do with this particular brand.

Thank you for the clarification. What does it "typically" run to have the AC evacuated and then recharged?

The 2011-2014 is a little easier around there too. I did my 13 without removing it but there is more room on the SN-197 vs the S-550.

Sold my bbk headers. So should I get these or the stainless power ones?
