Finally decided to try and tune my own car.

As of now I will be using pcmtec.

I have absolutely no experience tuning so this is going to be fun.

The thread is going to be small updates with the progress and things I learn.

For the pcmtec software you can use generic J2534 cables.

They have ones they recommended and tested but they cost about $140.

Found some cheap one on amazon I could get next day shipped that I wanted to try. (https://www.amazon.com/Jugger-J2534-Techstream-Programming-Diagnostic/dp/B07ZCC8QG9/).

So far no luck with it. Found some drivers and they seem to be working but the pcm tec software isn't able to read the pcm. Gives an error that it can't read the pcm. It logs that it reads the vin properly so it atleast is partially working.

Might make a thread on the pcm tec forum seeing if anyone has gotten this cable to work. Maybe the drivers are the issue?

Tactrix openport 2.0 driver, and in pcmtec under options select tactrix/mongoose compatibility.
Tried those and doesn't look like pcmtec is picking the drivers up. I think your friends is a clone of that specific device while mine is just a J2534 cable so maybe they wont work.

I dont know. Ill probably order the cable they recommend and if I can figure out how to get this working for others great.

So my buddy just told me he actually did try the one you got and couldnā€™t make it work. I sent a link earlier for the one that did.

Def watching this thread as Iā€™m pretty interested in this as well.
