For those of you putting this off, it really is quite easy. I spent the most time running to the store to get a 30GB flash drive. (Cannot be done with WiFi.) I went from version 2.2 to 2.3. I did not play with it much after the install so I cannot comment on the changes. There was nothing obvious I saw.

If you mean the ability to remote start and other actions from your smartphone the answer is no.

I have a ‘17 and my Car Play works. Didn’t change a thing. I think any ‘17 should be good. Or did I misunderstand what year you’re referencing? I had a ‘16 Focus ST that didn’t work. It needed the hub update.

What change? Can you be more specific?

from 2.2 to 2.3 is very minimal change, wont even feel it, infact some who did it say it got worse, more lag issues..best is to go 2.2 to 3.0 (build 18025 improvements are in red)..the changes are big:

1. Finally, the artists' album covers will be displayed from the mp3 file tag. Moreover, if there is no picture in the file, the cover will be pulled from the GraceNotes database.
2. Now you can rewind the song by moving the slider (free rewind, for mp3 files)
3. In the menu icons have been changed and in some places the font (player, messages, etc.) is increased
4. Improved the algorithm of interaction with AndroidAuto.
5. Changed the sound settings (frequency characteristics, subjectively for the better).
6. There was a search for applications on the USB device.
7. Improved the mode of darkening and smooth animation. In subsequent builds, as a rule, optimize the work of AndroidAuto and CarPlay, as well as fix minor bugs and shortcomings (which we even can not find with a magnifying glass).
8.sound quality improvement over older versions especially build 17276
9. improvements/bug fixes for voice recognition

Yes, using on my daily commute (AndroidAuto, USB plugged in and connected to phone with cord). It's awesome! Sound while plugged in with music from Pandora with 4G phone connection is so much better than FM or bluetooth connection.
