2016 GT-350 - Ford Synch 3 update?

Has anyone successfully upgraded the older 2016 & maybe 2017 to Synch 3+?

My 2018 Fusion and 2019 F-150 were already at that level & my Android works perfectly. But on the 2016 350, nope.

Does your 2016 have the big screen or the little screen?
I could be wrong but I seem to recall the 2016s with a big screen only needed a USB hub upgrade for AA/CP to function

I noticed something looked different on my 17. It automatically updated to 3.0 during the winter storage.

Right after purchasing I did some research at Ford and Did the USB thing, sitting in the driveway idling like twice. got a download complete message, and now the screen says "Updating Software", or similar.

By 'did the USB thing' do you mean ran an update to the system via USB stick?

If so, that's separate from what I'm referring to which is replacement of the physical USB hub/port currently installed in the car. I believe this part needs to be replaced with the newer one that is Android/Carplay capable.

Literally it was & still is my Dream Car. I had an 1988 Saleen back in 1989-2002 but I got to thinking it was a classic/collector and stopped driving it at 24,632 miles until I traded it away for some cash and a 1992 Buell S2... picked up super nice LOW mile 2007 GT-500 ragtop also as my new daily driver so I'm having a blast!

For the first time I updated my Sync via connection to my home wifi. Faster, smoother, error-free install.

There is also a Sync/APIM recall out, #24B7. A mobile Ford tech just left my house after he implemented it.

I have it and it works very well and I'm very used to it on my 2018 fusion and my 2019 f150.
Synch 3 works well with my Android. Synch 1 not so much...
