Has anyone tried a centrifugal supercharger instead of a PD supercharger?

I think a supercharged set up can work but I believe it’s best to know the type of event it’s going to be used in. 20-30min sessions maybe not. But I know of 2 that just compete in time trials so for 2-3 laps they are fine.
Oh, TT will definitely work. But then, how do you learn to drive it if you can only do 5 laps at a time? 😄

I have tracked my car more than I have driven it on the road. I have the most miles at Autobahn in Joliet, IL. It is a PP1, not that it matters as most of what makes it that is gone.

I have a C&F radiator, and Setrab big oil cooler with the stock oil cooler deleted. I have been running my car since 2018 and it has 5800 miles on it. Since I supercharged "back in the day" I have an older Whipple. I put in the bigger heat exchanger and the Watson Tank with an EMP high flow water pump. The intercooler upgrade has been the biggest bang for the buck in managing heat. Second place would be going to the Steeda Subframe, and my homemade belly pan. Was not shooting for cooling when making this change but it dropped temps about 3-5 degrees.

Lastly I have some time wrapped up into tuning the car to survive on the track. I have different levels of tuning for the heat I am battling. I can do a full 30 minute session without any issues. With that said i know I get tired and drive much more conservative as the clock ticks on, I also take a generous warm up lap or two on slick.

You have a beautiful and, I imagine, a very fast and well sorted machine. You've put a ton of work into it.

That said, this also reinforces my current thinking that I cannot install a supercharger, even with an upgraded intercooler, then go out and reliably and comfortably run 5 or 6 20-30 minute sessions without any issues. Not without other upgrades and even possibly tuning changes.

Thanks for posting. That's an awesome car.

Please tell more about it. Did it free up space at the front to fit big oil cooler? Or did you get rid of AC condenser to make it work?
I just don't have enough space or desire to sandwich oil cooler-SC intercooler-AC Condenser-radiator. It's a huge pile sitting way beyond front wheels

I imagine that you're catless for quite some time. Is it obnoxiously loud? 😄

I run stock exhaust manifolds, to help with heat, as I do not need every last ounce of HP. I run a Gibson cat back with stock cats. So far they are working great. I am pretty aggressive on fuel cutoff. Keeps the cats warm with lots of air flowing through.
The picture is not my car, But I run my oil cooler the same way with a cut out in my belly pan. The cowl does a good job of drafting air up through the engine bay.

@Boyd glad to hear you concluded to hold off on the SC. It's just not worth it.

Tracking is expensive enough as is. Plus you are always accelerating from a roll so what's the point of the extra HP, especially when you have to point by those Porsches anyway?

My last track day I got a point by from a GT350 and pulled away from a GT500. Spend your money on track time and perishables.

Just for the record those Porsches pointed me by, but as noted 75% is driver. I sold a track car for this car, so I have been at it a while, and have my preferences. I also worked at Roush in the early 2000s

It was this series, I need to go figure out this size, it added a quart to my oil capacity, along with my mMR oil pan, I have about 8.5 quarts of oil flying around.

I run this same config, using a Setrab ProCom 2-pass cooler. I kept the water/oil cooler on the side of the block too. Works great. 228F CHT steady, no time limit.

That is about what I run on an 85F day. I have not run it on a hotter day yet.

Today I was able to run full sessions, while keeping CHT below 240. It hovered around 235-238.

IAT was 77F mostly.
