How about that soft green foam that florists use? Maybe just a small strip or block is all that is needed.

icarumba,
I know you were very interested in an over engine brace so I want to ask what you have found out about the over engine strut braces for our V6 convertibles?
Do GT and EB braces physically bolt up to our shock towers exactly like on the others BUT:
1) We think they are too high and our hood would hit them
2) We think our massive Cyclone engine's intake is too high and would contact the brave (at least with the massive engine torque movement! ;)).
3) Have you found conclusive info that either (are they the same GT & EB brace?) will NOT fit our V6?

On the Ebay page that Reaper posted for the 2014 engine cover, it showed a picture of the brace for that year. A plain flat (aluminum?) plate. I don't think it is as nice looking as the GT brace.

I spoke with an engineer at Steeda, and all he said was that the intake was too tall to allow for a strut tower brace. He did not say whether or not they were looking at some type of solution, but it didn't sound too promising. That's just my take on the conversation; I could be wrong (and I hope I am). I haven't heard a peep from anyone else on the subject.

It seems like there should be enough room for a 1/4" flat steel brace of some sort; that's the same material that our K braces are made of. I know they have to allow a certain amount of clearance for the engine and hood to move independently without making contact, but I would be surprised if they cut it so close that a 1/4" would cause problems. But then again, I have no idea how much deflection of the brace is going to occur under load. The 1/4" steel may work fine as a K brace (with it's short span), but going from tower to tower may be asking too much of that material without adding a flange for strength...which may make it too tall. I can't think of another solution, short of redesigning the intake or getting a taller hood!

I really hope someone out there is working on something for us red-headed V6 step children; this car desperately needs a strut tower brace!!!

I'm with you in thinking where there is a will, there is usually a way. But if that way requires extra effort for a poor step child (and red-headed at that!), I can see how it would be less likely.

My imagination runs amuck when you mention a raised hood. Realistically cost for a new raised Cobra style hood (that would never be produced for V6's) as well as the style ding of implied massive horsepower... on a V6 would be downsides.... Waking from my dream now.

But, but, but, in bazaro world, it would look amazing, and especially if it had functional air induction to a CAI! (there might be a philanthropic aftermarket company willing to design and produce this hood and tower brace for 'special needs' Mustang owners! Think of the poor red-headed step children in Chin.. the U.S. going to bed each night w/o a tower brace and a functional Cobra hood. Sad, just sad... ;))

Is there a strut tower brace in the Ecoboost?
Isn't anywhere in the information I have.
Not really. The eB PP has two braces that connect from the towers to the firewall rather than to each other.

Looking forward to aftermarket hoods to be available to market. That should give us better clearance for the brace, right?

No, but you can use the Ford Racing one if you space it somehow. I've got it with some washers right now, but plan on making something more to match up with the shape of the feet so it pushes the forces through properly.
